After half a year of VGM covers and experimental chiptunes, I decided to bring back FamiTastik and gauge my learnings during these months. Following the spirit of Vol.1, FamiTastik Vol.2 is a collection of stories yet untold and sceneries yet unseen narrated through videogame music.

Music made entirely with Dn-FamiTracker using the VRC6 expansion chip (without using any samples in the DPCM channel) and no post-processing whatsoever, apart from some gentle volume leveling and limiting. The .nsf file containing all of the compiled tracks is included with the album.

Career to date

Started playing piano at an early age, studied composition at Osaka College of Music, and began working in music. 1987 joined Nintendo as a sound composer, responsible for music for Nintendo's video game software. 1995 left Nintendo to work as a freelance artist. His representative works during his time at Nintendo include "Ice Hockey," "Fumikon Mukashi Hanashi Yuyuki," "Super Mario Kart," "Sim City," and "Pilot Wings. Since becoming independent, he has provided music for animation, commercials, and games. He has written many books and serialized his work in magazines and other publications.

2021年に作ったこの曲がリリースできてとても嬉しく思います。2023年の夏まで期日が伸びたのでSoundCanvas単体で安っぽくないサウンドを実現するためにかなりの時間をかけてミックスしました。挑戦してみたこととしてはアシッドベースを使ったヘンテコなゲーム音楽、SysExだけで十分な音圧の実現、手打ちのWAVESTATIONのようなモーションシーケンス、音圧上げた結果音割れしないよう音楽的サイドチェーン（キックとベースが重ならないようにする）などなど。題名はSHYという漫画を当時読んでいて思いつきました。

I'm so happy to see this song released, which I created in December 2021. I spent a significant amount of time refining the sound without any external equipment. What I tried: a weird VGM + acid bass, getting enough loudness level using only SysEx, motion sequencing like WAVESTATION (manually), manual side-chaining (my special SMF boosts most tracks), and so on. The title came to me while reading the manga "SHY".

This song was composed in Sekaiju using my Yamaha TX16W sampler, utilising my Digitech DSP 256XLII and circuitbent Fostex DE1 effects units, then multitrack recorded into Cakewalk.
My bestie dusthillresident who is also on this album helped figure out some of the harmony and gave me useful feedback, without her it wouldn't be finished!
