Irish composer of acoustic and electronic music, based in California

Eduard Zatriqi received a BMus with first class honours (2009), and an MA and PhD in Music Composition (2010 and 2015, respectively) from Queen's University Belfast. His two chamber operas, Van Helsing: The Opera Exclamation Mark (2009) and The Monster In The Dark (2012), received their Belfast premieres by Spark Opera. He was selected as a winner of the West Cork Chamber Music Festival Composition Competition in 2011 for his Piano Trio. Eduard also won the 2016 Peter Rosser Award for his composition War Games, which received a subsequent performance by Hard Rain SoloistEnsemble live on BBC Radio Three in September 2017. In 2018, he won the Hibernian Orchestra Composition Competition for his orchestral work Human Machine and was also awarded a commission by HRSE to write a new composition (Balkan Spectres), with funding provided by the PRS foundation. As part of the project Towards a New Symphonic Tradition, New Horizons Music commissioned Eduard (with funding from ACNI Lottery Project) to compose his most recent work Pierrot's Splendiferous Symphonic Dances.

Syte and The Sound (SaTS) are a 6-piece live band from Bristol, UK. They play a powerful blend of music ranging from hip-hop, trip-hop, soul, rock, dnb, funk, dub and electronica – strong percussion, funky grooves, beautiful, poetic vocals and shimmering electronics – with occasional swings into thrash rock and ambient soundscapes – in short, the New Trip-Hop.

Since Syte and the Sound exploded onto the scene (forming in early 2009) they have earnt their status as a tour-de-force both live and on record. They have performed all over Bristol, Leicester, Manchester, London and Leeds, and supported such acts as Dead Prez and Example (Top 20 UK artist). Recently they were hand picked out of over 1300 acts to play the Red Stripe Music Awards. And most excitingly they are proud to be on Chai Wallah's roster of new bands for 2010 - so expect to see them at many of this summer's top festivals!

The band released their debut CD “The Introduction” In November 2009 on their own imprint, Uncharted Records.
