About a year ago we spent two months in the UK traveling, meeting amazing artists, raving, and connecting with long time internet friends. We left the UK super inspired and as a result, started Joog Music. Over the last year we’ve been working OT to put out releases we truly believed in. It has been so endearing seeing our friends come up with us as we build this little platform, and through it made new friends and connections.

This summer we’ve stopped all digital releases while we took time to reflect and question what we want Joog Music to represent.

Joog Music wants to make good music accessible. We strive to cross-pollinate varying scenes with the intent to introduce people to new music and create new networks. We want to do our part to keep our favorite corners of rave alive in the Bay Area. We want to support up and coming artists, and in that also diversify our own taste and creative work. As we enter our second year, we want to continue this mission and create more safe in-person spaces for discovery, connection, and self-liberation.

With that being said, summer is over, and we want to get things rolling with our biggest release yet!

We got 26 killer tunes from local, internet, and international friends we’ve met on our travels! With this compilation, it was important to us that we represent Bay Area talent (very overlooked!), that we put on our friends we’ve met around the world, and that we capture up and coming talent that we’ve been obsessed with.

With 160 and Jungle (but not limited to) at the core of our criteria list, we picked out these tracks with dancers and DJs equally in mind. The compilation spans across various rave genres but still represents a cohesive vision of what Joog Music wants to curate for people that love to rave as much as we do.

We hope this becomes part of the rotation in the soundtrack of your life, as it has been for us! We hope you also feel inspired to make music and create your own network of party people in your corner of the world. We hope you discover new rabbit holes to dive into with every single of these talented producers!

Paris-Born, French-Creole artist based in Montpellier, Tom Manzarek has a vast and eclectic sound, inspired by the beat-scene of 2008-2018, English broken-beat, zouk and Jamaican dub.

In 2018 he co-creates Piñata Radio, a online plateform broadcasting artists from south of France and around the world, before starting his own label Plaisance Records in 2021.

Like in his productions, Tom Manzarek (real name Thomas Berthelot) enjoys mixing genres in his DJ sets, from electronic sounds (house, broken-beat, garage, jungle) to more organic ambiances (hi-hop, jazz, zouk, disco, riddims, etc.).
