BIO ENGLISH (short version)

Francesco Ballato, former breakdancer and known as DJ Fran-G, has been an activ part of Basel's night life for more than a decade now. It all started in the year 2000, when he did not only host parties in cozy clubs, but regularly performed as a DJ there, too. Since then his career never lost momentum. Events like "tek-lounge" and TONSTAU (Basel 2004-2009, with international line-up) combined with his musical talent led his name to be known across the borders; and from 2003 on he became a well-booked DJ in Freiburg, as well.

Since 2010, Francesco runs his own little party label called "conaction" in proper style in the Afterhour Club Le Saxo in Basel. With his grooving sets he transforms dancing crowds into celebrating masses and has done so in Basel, Freiburg and even regularly in the Tresor Club, Berlin (+4 Bar).

But long before that, since 2005, he worked eagerly on his own productions in a constantly growing studio. His first release was in a Remix Contest (September 2010) and slowly but surely, the rewards for his constant musical devotion
seem to become clear. So watch out what Francesco will have in store for you in the future.

---in the beginning of my history, there was techno raves and "le Manege (1997)". At this time began a new series of dances with entierly new concept. light shows, fluorescent chalk, strobe lights, flowers, costums and an awe stuck audience of turned people. What was amazing was that instead of just watching performers, the audience were an integral part of the total environnement. People were dancing and swaying to music and lights that had rhythm and sound all its own. What i want to do, is create again this amazing shit... Max Cooper is an electronic composer, multi-disciplinary artist, music label founder and former scientist who has carved out a unique space in music and visual art.

He holds a PhD in computational biology at the same time as being the first contemporary electronic musician to perform at the ancient Acropolis theatre in Athens and one of the first clutch of musicians to produce in Dolby Atmos.

Cooper has enquired for over 15 years through music, collaborations, and his label Mesh, to explore the intersections between the arts and sciences with installations, performances, immersive experiences, online media, music videos and live events.  Anchored throughout is his emotive approach, connecting how ideas and forms feel, in a manner accessible to us all. 
 
As an artist synonymous with the evolution of club culture, Cooper honed his craft as a DJ with a 10 year residency at legendary Midlands techno event Firefly where he formed a foundational relationship with Architecture Social Club, with whom he still collaborates on extravagant immersive installations.

"I want to encourage the acceptance of electronic music as an art form like any other. Bringing electronic music and abstract audio-visual projects into concert halls, museums and galleries is liberating - the art world opens up doors to communicate in ways that aren’t possible elsewhere."
  
Pivoting from computational biology to electronic music might not seem like the most natural career transition, but for Cooper the commonalities are obvious:
 
"In both fields, you're in a sense, free. Free from the limits of living systems, free from the limits of corporeal sound. The only constraints are in your mind."
