Raucous Brooklyn dance legends Underground System make a triumphant return with ‘Desnuda,’ the first single off their forthcoming ‘Into The Fire EP’ on Razor-N-Tape / Heavenly Sweetness (France).. A smoldering Afro/Latin house exploration, Desnuda weaves deep & bouncy bass lines with dreamy Spanish vocals, and a hint of acid. French don Yuksek delivers in his signature style, with a clubby remix that juxtaposes the song’s ethereal elements against a rumbling low end.

Manifestations is a funky and diverse sonic collection from Mono/poly, a talented member of the Brainfeeder roster. A well-paced work, the EP’s momentum grows and then contorts into other dimensions, balancing powerful rhythms and a beautiful depth for a holistically moving experience.

Manifestations has seven tracks, each with a very different tone. From the warm opening haze of the title tune to the complete crashing madness of “Punch The Troll In The Neck,” Mono/poly has cultivated a choice sonic garden to explore. The shifty beats of “Glow” are straight off the streets of Los Angeles, while the stakeout sounds of “Toe Jam” descend into the groove with fresh urgency. “Forest Dark” has a bipolar personality altogether, with a funky industrial grind that flips over headfirst into the ripples of a peaceful pond.

A strong debut on the Brainfeeder label for Mono/poly, Manifestations is a release whose many waxy layers are peeled away one at a time to reveal a glowing core of true talent and innovative sound design.

"Hearing this podcast of Mike Allen's Capital Rap show instantly took me back to my early teenage years; hearing his voice and the choice of cuts he played bought the memories flooding back. Mike Allen show really was the soundtrack to my life back then. I would religiously tape his shows and i wasn't alone amongst my friends. We all did! The tapes were played and tunes discussed, getting played to death on ghetto blasters whilst friends perfected their breaking moves. This is where my passion and love for music really started to show. I couldn't break but boy I wanted to have all the tunes in my tape collection! 

Getting up to London to buy records was just out of reach but I was fortunate enough to buy some killer electro 12" from Groove in Soho. Just going up there was a pilgrimage. This was a shop I always wanted to visit and that first experience is a cherished memory. I also got my first taste of a youth fashion at that time. The whole look we wore was all part of that soundtrack: Tacchini tracksuits, Split Louis cords, Fila BJ's, Lacoste polo shirts etc. Labels came in and out of fashion but the look just suited the music perfectly."

“This show was broadcast on Saturday 10th May 1986, it includes a Allen's Army Frontline Chart which was a chart voted for by the listeners voting for their favourite records. This show includes 'Techno Scratch' by Knights of the Turntables, 'Ultimate III Live' and 'Running' by Information Society and a Egyptian Lover track so some classic electro/hip hop sounds of the time. The show does contain some adverts. Mike even talks about the line up for the upcoming UK Fresh 86 gig at Wembley on July 19th, so a real snapshot of the time.”
