My 11yr old daughter played some improvised string melodies using Garage Band on the ipad. I imported this improvisation session to the PC and cut out some good melancholic parts.
Used these as the main parts in Reason 9. Made some adjustments (volume, slight stretching here and there,...). Additional strings using StringWERK (by e-instruments). Nice convolution reverb with Siberian Halls (from Sputnik Audio). Kramer Tape (from Waves) on the master channel.
