The past few months have been a wonderful time for my eldest son and his partner, who are expecting a child. They wanted to share the good news of the pregnancy but had some concerns about going public in the early stages and decided to wait until the first sonogram and medical check confirmed everything was as it should be. 

During those early days the undivided love they felt for each other in starting a new family grew and when they felt secure enough they finally shared their news with the family.

I’ll never forget the excitement when they showed us the first sonogram photo – that new family was becoming more real with every passing day.
Then came the second image, showing the baby nearing full development, with a clear indication of gender.  Jason and Nicky felt it was time to name their child, choosing Richard Terence Reeves – RTR.   Sharing the name Terence with me makes me so very emotional.  
Being a granddad was something I had never expected but I am filled with pride to be just that to Richard Terence Reeves.

Deep thanks to Hans for once again producing such a wonderful arrangement for the song I wrote to celebrate the occasion.  It really captures the growing excitement we‘ve all been feeling over the past few months. Thanks so much for listening. 

Gary has asked me to apologize to anyone who has messaged him over the last couple of months and hasn’t received a reply.  Health problems and hospital appointments, among other things, have been taking up much of our time recently. Fresh from major missives on the likes of Crosstown Rebels, Circus, Saved and Relief and heavyweight collaborations with the likes of Pete Tong, Alex Kennon makes his debut on Joris Voorn's Spectrum with this rolling juggernaut anthem that joins the dots between the 2000s and 2020s, house and techno, clubs and festivals and all shades of lockdown jadedness in between. It's his most personal release to date, and one that has already found favour with Kolsch, who made an early version a regular set favourite.

''Blinding Lights' is for me not just a record, it's a melting pot of emotions through music, a kind of time machine taking me from the early 2000's to today. I was overjoyed when Joris said he wanted the track for his own label Spectrum. His remix and take on the track will make this project very special, an intimate perspective from a great artist and musician like himself combined with a track I am very proud of.'

An inspired slab of emotional electronic music that nods in all directions and comes with that great sense of momentum and surprise, both Alex's original and Joris's remix hit spots we forgot existed. Lighter times are coming and music like this will be our soundtrack.

I grew up on hip hop and have always been a hip hop musician first. Hip hop (and lo-fi indie rock) is the lens through which I always first approach making a song. After spending years listening to the music of our SoundCloud community, everyone's music has found a deep place in my heart. I believe that when hip hop artists first began sampling funk tracks in the 80s, it was out of love and respect for the music they grew up with and identified with. I now sample the music of my SoundCloud collaborators and friends to make new songs from those that I love. Tony Turn Around is a celebration of that process. It is a representation of the joy of sampling and the delight of playing around with cool sounds from musicians you respect and admire. I hope you all continue to enjoy what we have created as a community here on SoundCloud and Bandcamp!
