This playlist began as a personal challenge: release 1 mix a week for the duration of 2025. As of June, that hasn't been achieved, sadly. 

Work travel has made it too difficult to keep up the weekly pace at a standard I can live with. However, I intend to keep working on this project throughout the year — we'll see how many I can create :)

I take a free approach to genre, moving from house to techno, electro to ambient, and back again, sometimes within one mix. The map is not the territory...

Map 2 (deep, dub, 90s and lofi house dj set)

I think this is my favorite of these mixes so far. It was just flowing tonight, and that doesn’t always happen. The focus was on deep techno with some tribal elements, hypnotic percussion, layering. Tried to give the tracks room to breathe. I had fun making this one—enjoy the music!

Map 15 (deep and hypnotic techno DJ set)

I said last week's Map was my favorite — well, until I recorded this one. This is a collection of hypnotic, deep, ritualistic techno that illustrates my idea of the "dancefloor journey", where each track takes you somewhere new and at the end, having built and released the tension, you're let down gently to reflect. Something like that, anyways. Enjoy the music.

Map 16 (deep and hypnotic techno DJ set)

With its fourth release, Moving Pressure welcomes its first external artist: young Slovenian producer Obscur. With a signature sound that is driving and subtly psychedelic, his debut on the label doesn’t stray from the core tenets of its sonic ethos. Obscur delivers minimalism with purpose—dynamic, intentional, and wholly physical.

‘F135’ opens the A-side with a sinister tilt—rubbery squeaks stretch and coil around a flickering, synthetic voice. It’s tactile and strange, without losing movement. ‘Soul Eater’ follows with a slow-burn crescendo, nestling psychedelic inflections into a warm low-end. On the flip, ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ pares things back. Dry, stripped rhythms carry an atmospheric tension—it’s austere yet playful, leaving space for darker hues to linger without fully settling. A precise, heads-down statement. ‘Blasphemy’ follows with a tighter percussive grip and Feral-esque, panning modulations. Highs slice through a foundation of finely textured grooves—functional at its core, but laced with enough detail to give the track a sharper, more intricate edge. The digital bonus, ‘Diamond City’, stretches the sonic palette even further. Not through layers, but through tone: steel blues and deep violets bounce off metallic bleeps with cinematic restraint, closing the EP on a reflective note.

Moving Pressure 04 - Obscur

Welcome to a brand new chapter of Deep Electronics. The serie brings you a diversity into the abyss of deep electronic music. The latest chapter is mixed by Julius.

About:

This vinyl-only mix comes from Julius, a devoted dubtechno head with a strong love for the craft. 
Recorded at home using a Xone 92 and a pair of Technics SL1210MK2s, the set flows through deep selections from releases like ALT001, BERGAMON15, WRSR1, ECHOLTD010, and more—warm, textured, and true to the genre's roots.

Julius has been collecting records for years, digging mostly online, and channeling that passion into carefully woven vinyl sets.

Me and Jeroen from Deep Electronics first connected online eight years ago and met in person by coincidence at De Weide Festival in Alkmaar last year.
Looking forward to crossing paths again at this year's edition.

Deep Electronics # 438 - Julius

Absolutely subterranean dub techno for you this week. We start at the mouth of the cave (birdsong!) in the 100bpm range, then head underground, working our way up to about 120bpm, where we find ourselves at the surface again, hearing birdsong once more. I didn't plan that part, but love that it happened.  Just one of those happy accidents that can happen when improvising a set.

Is ritual techno a genre? If it is, this is what I think it might sound like. This Map is deep, trippy, psychedelic in moments. There's an up and down arc, and an unexpected closer. Had a lot of fun with this one. Enjoy the music!

Smoke Rings Mix#15 (Dub Techno/Deep Techno)

Episode 13 for Poisonoise Music comes next from Thomas Carmody, who is one of the co-owners of the wonderful Yinyang label which runs out of Minsk, Belarus.     If you are fan of House and Techno then it would definitely be worth your while checking their label / site out as there are some real gems featured here.  
For this set, Thomas brings a very nice deep and rich techno sound which seems to represent the Yinyang sound perfectly.
