Following the recent release of his 'Kili EP', enjoy a recording of Romain Garcia's set, recorded live from Splendor at Anjunadeep Explorations 2023 in Dhërmi, Albania.

Following title track ‘Kili’ premiering on label compilation Anjunadeep 14 earlier this year, French artists Romain Garcia and Douran release the three-track ‘Kili EP’. The EP is the sum of the pair’s artistic and cinematic influences, culminating in three driving anthems that are a masterclass in emotionally-charged melodic house.

The EP is Romain Garcia’s third with Anjunadeep, following his previous two releases, ‘Everybody Dreams’ and ‘Before You Go’, which have, together, clocked up nearly two million streams. Garcia collaborated with Ben Böhmer on their track ‘Cappadocia’, released on Cercle Records, and has garnered support from a wide range of tastemakers such as Pete Tong, Hernán Cattáneo and LP Giobbi. Romain has recently played at the stunning Pic Du Midi Observatory in the French Pyrenees, and will complete a six-stop North American tour this September, with dates in Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Montréal and Toronto.

A versatile musician and composer, Douran has released his own complex and classically-inspired productions on Anjunadeep and ambient sister label Reflections, as well as remixing William Orbit’s acclaimed ‘Starbeam’. The live act and producer has also been supported by publications such as Clash and Decoded.

This whole experience was very emotional and humbling for me. As the bus drove out to the man early Tuesday morning, I felt an enormous amount of love and support from friends riding their bikes alongside, Burners dancing, family looking down on me and even from those who weren’t able to be there with me. I loved every second of it and I feel incredibly blessed and grateful.

Getrieben von der Musik, die uns in diesem Moment über alles hinweg eint und gemeinsam nebeneinander und miteinander tanzen lässt. Leben und leben lassen! Angesichts unserer gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung, wo waschechte Faschisten es offensichtlich wieder schaffen, sich als stabile Kraft zu etablieren und einen Bürgerkonsens voller Hass, Gewalt und Verachtung hinter sich vereinen, der mich so erschüttert, dass ich es manchmal garnicht richtig glauben kann...angesichts dessen bin ich froh über jeden Menschen, der es schafft, seine Arme zu öffnen und das Schöne zuzulassen. Von diesem Gefühl bitte so viel mitnehmen, wie geht. Die Welt braucht es.

Fueled with new music from two of his older half brothers (One of which is the UK trance DJ/Producer Corin Bayley)who would pass on mix tapes of theirs and other big DJ's of the time to him and his brother Arran. Once he had found the music had so much raw energy and emotion, he was hooked. It's this feeling from electronic music that still resonates with him today! From these mix tapes he would hear amongst many others everything from early trance/techno by now massive names like Sven Vath and Paul Van Dyk to early progressive house pioneers like Spooky. This education in dance music continued circa 93-2000. 

It was around this time in early 2000 that he and his older Brother Arran (Who had caught the bug too) took it upon themselves to purchase two Technics SL1210 mk2's and a mixer and the rest as they say is history! The two brothers both started out DJing together playing Progressive house/Trance and Techno and going to various club nights and festivals together. Then in 2002 at the age of 15 Tom got invited to play in the main room at the now Legendary defunct Country Club near Dorchester just a mile from his parents house. After having handed in a 90 min demo to then PR and Resident DJ Meri! Unfortunately for a lot of like people in that area including himself. The club got shut down not long after and the young lad was left with no choice but to play and learn his trade at Bars and smaller clubs in what was at the time his local town of Yeovil! 

Fast forward the last few years however and he has been living in Bristol, trying to forge a name for himself on the local club circuit. Over the years his tastes have evolved a little and the bpm's have of course naturally dropped too. However he has still stayed true to his taste. Describing his current sound as "nearly always being melodic or containing moments of melody, but never cheesy". His styles now ranging everything from Deep house to progressive/Tech house and Techno/melodic techno! Although Tom is always constantly looking for new/future sounds. He has always been known for not being afraid to throw in a classic or two into his sets/mixes. Something of which is a feature on his Emotive Soundscapes podcasts. These shows are most of the time a reflection of what music he is really digging each month, rather than a representation of his live dj sets when he plays out! Tom is currently a resident DJ for Bristol based house and techno night From Berlin With Love and Progressive nights Origin Presents and The Prog Lab. As well as being an ambassador/DJ for Progressive/tech House label Plethora Muzik. I recent years he has played regular gigs for many other promoters. Playing at clubs including Motion and more or less every smaller club/venue in Bristol. At the same time he has been bagging key sets in London for Electronic Sessions supporting the likes of Israel's finest export Guy J and also playing at EGG!


His main Inspirations DJ wise ranges from the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, James Zabiela, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Dave Seaman, Sven Vath, Carl Cox.. etc!
