too strong

Another day spent staring down at my feet 
I’m a shell tossed about in a sandy beach 
Possessing thoughts although they’re few and far between
I find it easy floating freely, letting waves wash over me 

And there are lifetimes I have still yet to see
I long for more, yet refuse to pay the fee 
I say I love you though I don’t know what it means 
You can show me, when you hold me there is nothing else I need

Except a purpose 
And no matter how much I work it 
Nothing ever feels like it’s truly worth it 
I can’t latch on to fading moments 
I still desire a purpose 
Drowning deep beneath the surface 
Crushed by the weight of my hubris,
A foolish state of being
