The Swindlers return and not a minute too soon as far as we’re
concerned!  The hardest working duo in house music have had a
mental couple of years playing every club and festival known to
man, having babies, seemingly buying up the entire stock of vintage
studio gear off ebay and thankfully knocking out some banging tunes
on top of all that.  Well all club bangers gratefully received here
at Freerange so with open arms and ears we’re happy to be bringing
you the Figure Of Speech EP.
Just as the non-believers think they know what to expect from these two they’ve thrown a rather large curveball and headed down a different road. Figure Of Speech wears some African influences on its sleeve with a bumping party groove punctuated by some nifty
afro beat keys stabs and just a hint of acid. Victoria’s Secret
treads more familiar Detroit Swindle territory with the boys trademark shuffling beats and larger-than-life side-chained pads bringing the drama. Finally, we have suitably titled Live At The Cosmic Carnival where we’re treated to some peaktime tribal business with rolling bass, dubbed out dancehall science and some nifty conga work. All in all, some fiyah for the dancefloor from a pair of lads who know a thing or two about how to get a room jumping.

I started DJ’ing in 1994, playing hardcore gabber and acid, heavily influenced by DJ’s such as - DJ ESP, DJ Hyperactive, Rob Gee, Delta 9 and just about anything I found on Drop Bass Records or Rotterdam Records. Part of my love for music is sharing it, and despite the fact that I love hardcore techno, I wasn’t getting the feedback I wanted. Looking up and seeing people dancing, smiling… that’s what it’s about! So I decided to focus more on my other love - house music. I began playing deep house and some of the more acid house stuff I was finding on labels like Plus 8, Definitive, Strictly Rhythm, Nervous, Trax, Dancemania, Relief, Casual, etc… I still play all that, but I have broadened my style a bit. For years I struggled, trying to define my style and stick to a specific genre. I feel that it is important for a DJ to have a specific sound, and I was eventually able to find my sound by letting my ears do the selecting instead of sticking to a specific genre. It’s much more fun and sounds better when I just play house. In 2009 I started producing and focusing more on the live sets as opposed to “DJ” sets. Today I prefer to play a live set if I have time to prepare, but  when DJ’ing I play everything from chill deep house to banging tech house to ghetto house to acid house… and so on. I just LOVE HOUSE MUSIC!
