세상에는 많은 사람들이 있고 그에 따라 존재하는 어떤 대상에 대한 모든 피상적인 생각들은 항상 다르다.
가령 음악이라는 예술적 범주에서는 더더욱 그럴 것이다. 장르라는 것을 단적으로 규정할 수 없는 요즈음엔 어떠한 현상을 보고 어떠한 상황을 겪게 되면서 느꼈던 정서 또한 '기쁨' 이나 '외로움' 처럼 한 단어로 표현하기가 어렵다.
현상과 상황으로부터 만들어진 그 뒤섞인 여러 감정들과 모습들을 곡들마다 고유의 색채와 질감으로 담아내었다.

'unfamiliar, instinctive, foolish' 를 모토로 시작 했던 이 곡들은 나중에서야 1997년의 영화 'the full monty' 의 남자들처럼 고심 끝에 약간의 타협을 하게 되었다. 그 영화의 스토리만큼 우스운 일은 아니었으나 처음의 의도 만큼 완벽하진 않다. 하지만 이런 과정들의 고찰로 인해 역설적인 조화가 멋지게 이루어졌다.
그리고 여러분은 아는지 모르겠는데 사실 토끼는 물을 싫어한다.

FULL MONTY # 2017

There are numerous types of people out in the world and because of its variety, what people have in mind to certain object also varies.

This happens most frequently when it comes to music. The word 'genre' has lost its meaning and this is natural  because it is hard to describe certain experience with one or two words. 

This tape contains mixture of emotion and feeling in each song in a unique way. 

The motto 'unfamiliar, instinctive, foolish'  has been altered in a way characters did in <The Full Monty>, 1997. Nothing so ridiculous as in the movie, but it has similarity in that nothing is near perfect as in the blueprint. However, the process of realising the original idea and compromising to what others expect has led to 'Ironical harmony'. 

And here's fun fact, rabbits hate water.

Utrecht duo Fouk (@justsayfouk) have emerged from the new wave of Dutch house and disco artists like Detroit Swindle and Nachtbraker, in no small part thanks to the former’s Heist Recordings. Through there and other avenues like their own @Outplay label, House Of Disco Recordings and Razor-N-Tape Reserve, they have pushed their patchwork of grooves with great success over the last couple of years. With a knack for crafting infectious keys solos and sourcing the most pleasing of analog synth sounds, they have made themselves known for an assured, highly musical sound.

*How would you describe your sound?*

Warm house music with a lot of soul and funk. We aim to make people smile with our music. :)

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*

The dreaded question! In general jazz, funk and disco from the ‘70s / ‘80s. It’s always hard to give a specific answer to this. But our tastes are pretty varied and we can get inspired by good art, great nights out playing and fun with friends; relaxation and fun feeds creativity. Also we get inspired by others in the genre of course — it’s inevitable! 

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

It’s mainly music we made this year, sort of an end of year compilation. Also a couple of unreleased tracks from us. There’s a lot of new stuff coming up next year, but wasn’t ready to share with you just yet ;)

When Simon Dunmore heard Horse Meat Disco drop ‘The Spirit’ at Glitterbox in Ibiza this summer he immediately needed to know where and who the track came from.
