This month the spotlight is on the French house Dj and producer Sébastien Léger. The DJ is known for his unorthodox approach and the unique music as a result of that. Only a handful of artists have the innate ability to adapt to the ever-changing face of Dance Music while still staying true to themselves like Léger. This talent is what made him thrive and develop over such a long period. Sébastien Léger is one of the most outstanding artists in the recent electronic music business, an exceptionally gifted producer who is operating far beyond all the French filter house clichés.

Nobody can predict the future, but there are some artists so fizzing with potential that their success seems predestined. Every fourth Tuesday of the month, One World Radio shines a light on the next crop of future stars to look out for. In an exclusive one-hour show 4 unique artists will be selected and given an opportunity to showcase their talent.

The Swiss-bred duo formed of Doane Allan and Julien Grosjean emerged on the scene in late 2020. Their first single ‘Deep Sea’ released on the German label Selected got its first 3 million streams within a month after release. As Effemar’s sound and concept developed and the number of streams in total surpassed 25 million, they launched their own imprint label Aube, where the duo kept on releasing both vocal and instrumental tracks. Apart from collaborating with talented vocalists like Nina Carr or Swedish Red Elephant, the project’s now-signature feature is recording the vocal parts themselves. The Swiss artists have been performing live at venues around Lausanne and other picturesque spots of their homeland, keeping their concerts discrete and intimate. With nostalgic melodies, dancy drums, and uplifting synth lines, the duo appeals to deep house fans as well as indie and pop audiences. They aim to act as a bridge linking the underground and popular music without losing their strong identity.

Gian Carlo Varela Castillo, known as “Gian Varela,” is an internationally acclaimed DJ/ producer and songwriter born in Panama and shaped in the USA. A born rebel, his unconventional yet thrilling ways of fusing sounds and genres defines his artistry. His upbringing in Panama, birthplace of reggaetón’s roots, and moving to the USA, cultivated his own sound. From viral collaborations with latin superstars like Sech, Feid and El Chombo, and releases on the world’s best dance labels such as Spinnin, Armada, Maxximize, and Revealed to festival tracks and remixes with the support of Armin Van Buuren, Gianluca Vacchi, Fedde Le Grand (to name a few), few artists pack such an energetic arsenal of records as Gian.

Having performed across the Americas in his early years, this experience has given Gian his imposing festival presence. From wrecking gigantic festival mainstage crowds in South America to electrifying clubs in Ibiza and afterparties in Ecuador, Gian’s “guerilla” style presence defines his high energy spectacle. A master producer able to delve between genres, this year Gian shall showcase what Spanish and Latin EDM entails. From a repertoire of sexy Spanish house records to more Latin urban pop.

“Making dance music in Spanish is just one part of it. It’s bringing one’s culture through the sounds, melodies and ideas where these fusions really get their fire. Starting with Mexico, stopping in Panama, and going all the way down to Argentina: the Latin culture is so big and there’s still so much to explore and fuse. Possibilities are endless and when combined with other world cultures, you end up with a global sound.”

This year is shaping up to be amazing for Gian with massive Latin collaborations and high energy fusions in the dance music world bringing his signature global sound into the mix.
