Secret Societies Rule The World is our dystopian look at how the global elite control our societies.   The establishments are shrouded in secrecy and corruption is a worldwide machine that continues to be fed by mainstream media propaganda.   Secret societies seem to rule the world and the news outlets only serve to fuel an already biased narrative in favour of the super rich. Lies & distrust are amplified and spread until they plant roots that divide us all.

Secret Societies Rule The World was inspired by a powerful feeling of unease at our current state of global affairs and the misinformation that is fed to us by news sources. We wanted to create a soundtrack for our frustrations and despair at the inequality and injustice that we all face. 

This song was initially inspired by classical orchestration and film scores. It is incredibly powerful how classical compositions can underpin a narrative and create such dramatic emphasis.   Secret Societies Rule The World began its life as a string and piano piece that paired perfectly with John F Kennedy’s powerful address to the American Society Of Newspaper Editors in 1961. The full band instrumentation aims to capture the frustration and aggression that built at the growing disparity amongst us all.

Lost Tribe Sound proudly introduces 'In The Octopus Pond', the first album in a series of album from Arrowounds, titled, the 'Therianthrope Series.' With previous works, Ryan Chamberlain has taken us through personal lows and bleak watery worlds in disrepair. However, 'In The Octopus Pond' sheds much of that skin and sets course for lush, green environments steeped in the bizarre. That said, this new material sounds more accessible than ever. The first entry in the trilogy draws from a range of musical influences, Can, Bark Psychosis, Young Gods, Slowdive, Durutti Column, Seefeel and much of early 4AD.

Rather than tackle some inner monologue or global crisis with the album, ITOP is instead accompanied by an obscure short story and visuals just as fitting. As both Arrowounds and LTS would prefer to take some time away from heavy realities and make up our own.

For here it begins and circles back into itself…
In the days before the great boil, the earth was lush and green, cared for by a race of mystic octopoed. In acts of preservational instinct, many chose to build their temples high on top of engineered tumuli, weary of prior flooding and wildfires that drastically disfigured the landscape. It was here that these priests of arms who carved ornate reliefs into the great pillars of obsidian and bone, dug down seeking mineral deposits in the earthen abyss and found a gestating world beneath the below... to be continued

This track is released as a comparison to the track "The Descending Wave" (molgallery.bandcamp.com/track/the-descending-wave), which was released on the German label moL.

Both tracks use the exact same material, but "The Descending Line" is continuous drone music, while "The Descending Wave" has some silent sections in between track. The question "What is the nature of silence for you?" was posed to me by moL for the release, and this is my answer to that question.

The pitch of both tracks drops over time, but it will be hard to notice the change in "The Descending Line". In "The Descending Wave", however, it will be more easy to notice the change because of the silence between the track. In my opinion, silence is not the absence of something, but an organic “existence”.

Please compare the two tracks and try to find the "nature of silence" in your own way.

963Hz Tranquil Spirit Voyage

Shortly after releasing his highly acclaimed ‘The Benoît Pioulard Listening Matter’(Kranky), Pioulard left on tour to Europe in order to promote the album. This tour took him to several distinctive places ranging from urban Brussels to rural France and the mystic capital city of Iceland, Reykjavik.

Once returned to Seattle, these new impressions and memories formed the inspiration to make ‘Slow spark, soft spoke’. Not surprisingly, the album continues in the same vein as his tour cd ‘Lignin Poise’ - which was repressed on vinyl by Beacon Sound - and is characterized by slowly moving lo-fi ambient textures. The album reveals Pioulards most melancholic side and once again shows his capabilities to bring beautiful sonic narratives with only a few instrumental layers.

‘Slow spark, soft spoke’ was initially released on tape on Dauw but sold out quickly during pre-order. After having received only sublime reviews and tons of request to re-issue the album, we now decided to give it a well deserved vinyl repress.

For this vinyl edition, Pioulard decided to add 2 totally new tracks in addition to the 4 initial ones. These new tracks are presented as the single 'Athanasy, 1993' which will be released and announced with the vinyl pre-order on October 4th. All together, the initial EP and the new single form a consistent full length which adds to his impressive and ever growing catalogue.

‘Slow spark, soft spoke’ will be released on October 26th on a limited  vinyl edition (200 heavyweight clear vinyl) and digitally. The tape comes with original hand-printed artwork by Femke Strijbol and will be accompanied by a unique polaroid taken by Benoît Pioulard (limited to 50 only).

After an almost 6 year hiatus, and the break up of the audio-visual trio it had evolved into, Origamibiro returns with Miscellany, a body of work amassed during the years since the release of 2014’s Odham’s Standard.

Though the group never officially disbanded, a number of life-changing events meant it simply became impossible to continue together. As such, the project organically reverted back to the solo pursuits of composer Tom Hill. Fellow multi-instrumentalist Andy Tytherleigh, however, remains a strong collaborator.

Miscellany comprises a varied mixture of work, ranging from electroacoustic to orchestral chamber music. Drawing upon much of the found-sound style for which Origamibiro became known, the DIY approach to sampling and composing continues to play a central role in the process.

Exploration into the tangible nature of everyday objects and textures - both in and outside of the home - is a theme relished in much of Origamibiro’s work. Forest brambles and plastic toy Easter eggs are examined in surgical detail alongside the debris of demolished piano parts, to be repurposed into whatever sonic potential they offer up.

However, new additions to the instrumental palette - viola da gamba, piano, zither, singing bowl, glockenspiel, drum machines and gongs - contribute to an even broader timbre.

Miscellany will be released on Denovali, March 2021.
