Das Side Projekt aus den beiden separaten Acts "Arts & Leni" und "Wolfgang Lohr" geht in die zweite Runde. Nach ihrer Debüt EP, im Oktober 2012 auf dem Berliner Label Ostfunk, folgt nun das zweite Release bei Ton Liebt Klang (Hamburg). Herausgekommen sind nach akribischer Frickelei zwei Tech House / Minimal Nummern mit dominanten Basslines und sehr lässigem Groove, für den tanzbaren Bereich auf der Clubwiese. Mit dem Einsatz von analoger Hardware, sämtlicher Souveränität beider Künstler und einer ausgefeilten eigenen Stilistik, ist das Ergebnis eine gesunde musikalische Mischung aus dem sich perfekt ergänzenden Duo!

Für den Remix von "Take This Back" wurde Fernando Tessis (Brasilien), Labelhead bei Kombo Records, ins Boot geholt. Mit seiner Interpretation ist eine druckvolle und ebenfalls sehr tanzbare, alternative Version kreiert worden, deren Coolness ihresgleichen sucht!

The Chosen Two (Berlin) haben mit dem Remix zu "Red Curson" mal wieder ihre Remix-Qualitäten unter Beweis gestellt und eine ganz eigene aber authentische Aufarbeitung, mit starker Bassline, zurecht geschustert. Sind aber bei ihren Leisten geblieben und ergänzen die Veröffentlichung zu einem runden Erlebnis und Ergebnis für den Verlegebereich im dampfenden Club!

The No Way Out EP by I am Frost will be released on Vergissmeinnicht on 1 August.

In "No Way Out" we hear the guitar play a funky, summery riff. The groovy bass line and driving percussion implore us to go crazy on the dance floor. As the track develops a rave-like synth sound emerges, adding tremendous energy to the mix. A confident, summer-time song that is simply about having fun.

As an old, I often feel incredibly lost.  Insecure and full of doubt, I yearn for the confidence I once had in my own abilities and my own potential.  

To be able to say "I know what to do" and believe you say--that feels like a completely different person from forever ago.  

So, when I decided "I should make a minimal house track--knowing my tendency to lose myself into novelty and my inability to edit myself or show restraint--it felt like a foolish attempt.  

...and yet, I think I actually managed to pull it off.  Maybe I still know what to do?  

That'd be nice.  

This is a house song.  A deep house song.  A classic house song.  A minimal house song.  And it stays that way--not in a monotonous way, but in a consistent way.  Consistency, very important in a house song.

The song features a saxophone.  Not in a crazy way, not in an incongruous way--but in a way that makes sense--and just enough.  

You've got a male vocalist with a little bit of heft in their voice confidently stating that he knows what to do.  You have a woman whispering that this is what she wants, and occasionally laughing--not in a mocking way, but a fun participatory way.  

And all of this doesn't overstay its welcome.  (The hardest thing was not to keep the groove going--so, perhaps an extended mix for this would be a good idea someday?)  

I'm proud of this one.  I kept it simple.  Yay!

The second installment of “No Filler Just Killer” brings together a fresh batch of artists showcasing their dancefloor-ready weapons. Neapolitans Moonwalk finally release one of the hottest bangers of this summer and a Solomun favourite, “Phenomena”. Featuring fellow French producer Rafael Cerato, the groovy cut follows the producers’ outspoken motto of releasing quality deep house that doesn’t keep track of trends. Kellerkind’s “Destiny” slowly builds up on a gloomy, synth-laden bassline, sustaining a melodic tension even after the breakdown. Faint and discrete female vocal accents add an unpredictable depth and harmony, while metallic pads make up the backdrop. The third piece comes from Boy Next Door and unveils a rapid-paced pick up tune, where percussion sets the course. An array of synths, ranging from neutral to jarring add even more flow to the unrelenting dynamic of the track. We step into a dub infused area with Channel X’s ‘Supernova’, an otherworldly journey into spacious grooves lined up by restless zippy synths. The ever so charming KlangKuenstler is responsible for the closing number, entitled “Drunk in Chicago”. With a distinctively Chicago inspired tech-house lumpy bassline and rounded up synths, it’s an instant mesmerizer. After the hook, it only takes a wholesome drum pad loop to keep you on board and enjoy the ride.
