'Kittball Records co-founder Juliet Sikora combines with fellow label favourite Flo Mrzdk this August as the pair deliver ‘The Get Down’, whilst Pete Sabo steps up on remix duties.

Following a debut appearance as part of the label’s ‘Kittball Konspiracy Vol. 3’ back in 2011, Dortmund’s Flo Mrzdk has since established himself as one of the imprint’s core artists, contributing towards numerous compilations and two full EPs to date. Joining him is label co-founder Juliet Sikora, who arrives fresh from recent outings on Green Velvet’s Relief and Cajual imprints and Beatport topping collaborations with Return Of The Jaded amongst many. Here we see the two combine once more following their ‘U Can’ EP in 2012, whilst Austria based producer Pete Sabo (Bunny Tiger Dubs / Spinnin’ Deep) turns in a dynamic and melodic remix on the flip.

Flo Mrzdk & Sikora’s title track ‘The Get Down’ reveals a slick, rolling production that combines bumping bass licks and shuffling hats with intermittent vocal hooks and rich chords throughout, whilst Pete Sabo’s interpretation sees the focus shifted towards driving oscillating synth builds guided by heavy, regimented kicks and the original’s infectious vocals.'

Senso Sounds collects together a fantastic remix package of Oliver Huntemann’s 'Propaganda' album. The longplayer dropped last year to much fanfare, richly deserving the praise for one of the longest serving techno dons in the European
scene.

First up is Brazilian DJ and producer Alex Stein. His take on 'Taktik' is a suitably muscular approach, building the track around a thick, urgent pulse and proving ample space for tension-building slices of metallic FX.

Argentinian Shall Ocin flips 'Egoist', bringing about very different results - a euphoric peak time burner with huge amounts of
energy.

Senso mainstay Carlo Ruetz takes on 'Der schwarze Kanal', and digs into an early groove that never lets up, building slowly over the tracks entirety.

Hamburg's own Hatzler brings his special talents to 'Absurd', and delivers a slick, powerful cut that unfolds over almost eight minutes of joy.

Canadian Minimal Techno producer Marc Houle turns his attention to 'Poltergeist', flipping the original into a streamlined slice of robo-techno, sharp as a knife with shards of percussion and killer synth stabs.

'Rotlicht' is presented in its full glory and joined by a tough-as-nails remix by Raxon. The Egyptian DJ and producer, born and raised in the United Arab Emirates, locks deep into the groove and adds his own delicious spin to the track.

'Trick17' is giving an Alternative Remix by Senso regular Distale. The Berlin resident provides a Beatport exclusive mix with more of a driving groove, and brings the arpeggiated synths to the fore.

'The next EP on the label comes from Berlin based producers Joyce Muniz and Namito. A few years ago we invited Joyce to play play our annual Desert Hearts Festival after she remixed Mikey Lion and Sabo's track "Sally". Needless to say, she absolutely smashed the festival and we've kept in touch with her over the years. During our recent trip to Berlin, we reconnected with her firecracker personality and a few weeks later we had an amazing EP in our inbox from her and Namito.

This time around the roles are reversed, with label boss Mikey Lion turning in a banging remix of the title track.'

Debut album Melt is Stevie R's platform to bring the rebetiko music that he was raised on, sounds that he believes are a real healing tool, to a wider audience. On the album - which unites the sounds of his childhood with music from Greece's neighbouring countries - he worked alongside the Egyptian poet and glitch producer CERPINTXT and Turkish singer/songwriter Djanan Turan.

The album opens with the ambient melancholic sounds of Stepa, where dark strings are interwoven with euphoric horns. The vocal hook is a sample from a Greek theatre play that translates to "kiss me, my light". Stevie R explains that "the song represents purity, creation, fertility and unconditional love".

Delias feat. Djanan Turan & Master Dani begins with an abundance of earnest strings with a mesmerising beat and sensual vocals. It is a tribute to Anestis Delias, one of the forefathers of rebetiko, who met a sad and untimely death in his early 30s. It features the alluring vocals of Djanan Turan and the skilled string work of Master Dani.

Asprula steers the journey into more electronic territory - bubbling synths and a bouncy bass are interspersed with those unmistakable stringed textures. 

Gkii, written alongside Egyptian poet CERPINTXT, is a call and response song between the melodies of both Greek and Egyptian instruments, a cross-cultural dialogue that marries the two in a beautiful union as the track unfolds. A promo-only Dub Edition of Gkii is included for variety.

Why do we tell stories?

We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs.

But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human.

The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun.

With ‘Rebirth', Chapter 24 returns with seven stories in sound collected from artists all across the world to bring these themes to life, the seventh and final iteration in this compilation series.

South African star Bruce Loko (Get Physical, Freerange) opens proceedings with the deep, melodious textures of Cyclone, whipping up the ethereal eye of the storm. Chapter 24 regular Kieran Apter is next, making good the tension with the impactful 6.10.21 Break. Such is the power of this track that it propels the listener into new sonic dimensions.

Kostakis (Get Physical, Katermukke) offers up Xerxes, which is equally big and conjures up the dusty, mysterious and impenetrable planes of the desert. Meanwhile, Acumen returns to the imprint in collaboration with Pontias. Shower for Hours is a pumping, techy number bound to get the dancefloor bouncing before opening out into a euphoric peak.

The compilation closes out with a high quality trio. Label favourite KatrinKa delivers the typically deep groove of ABAF. DJ Zombi (Beat Boutique) takes things further down into a dreamy and blissful space with Steph. The honour of closing out the final Seven Stories befalls Hope Recordings and Soundgarden legend Nick Warren and the talented Nicolas Rada, who revisit Anton Dhouran’s Valhalla Rising. Their Edition is fittingly deep, transportative and dramatic.

They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories.

And so, as the storyteller utters that age old, magical phrase "Once upon a time...", let yourself be carried away one final time...
