In collaboration with our friends at Mostra (@mostrabcn), our latest mix highlights a personal favorite from the upcoming festival's roster. New York's Vicki Siolos (@vickisiolos) is an eminently thoughtful curator whose mindfulness shines through in her deliberate, insightful track selections and the programming of her Bright Patterns show on The Lot Radio. In fact Vicki and I have been discussing this particular contribution for over two years now, and through that conversation it became clear how deeply Vicki's artistic expression ties into her lived experiences and the process of meaningful reflection. Vicki's timely contribution speaks volumes and simple truths: a gasp, an ache, a salve.

Vicki will be joining Patrick Russell & Ulla from the US at the first edition of Mostra, a new small-format festival taking place April 11-17 in Barcelona. The lineup hosts more than a few friends & favorites of the label, and the festival promises an experience that is local, inclusive, and sustainable. More here: www.mostra.barcelona/eng

Here we are, It's all broken now.

At Houghton 2025, Melina Serser eased the crowd deeper into the afternoon with a slew of tripped-out, chuggy tunes at Outburst.

Dornen & Lomi - Hybrid Live at Open Ground

Here is the recording of my set from @freerotation.festival 2026. I played outside in the Dome, in the groggy afternoon sun of a heatwave. Sloooow seemed like the only reasonable choice in the circumstances, so it’s 100bpm all the way. Friends afterwards told me my set was giving “sandworm” and I’m running with it. It’s pretty different from my Freero recordings of yore – more measured in pace, sexy, chuggy, though it does manage to go full freakout in the middle somewhere and then back again – and I’m happy with that. Felt good to do something different this year and I think the recording is a personal favorite.

As for Freerotation itself: I’ll try not to gush insufferably, so suffice to say this festival (or is it a house party?) has meant a great deal to me over the years. Returning in 2024 after a 5-year break, I wondered if its golden era might have passed, but these last two editions have been my favorites by a healthy margin. I’ve watched my friends play jawdropping sets, formed and deepened friendships, and connected anew with a sense of meaning in rave that had been feeling elusive for some time. This year in particular I spent an unprecedented amount of time on the dancefloor – a broader story for another day, but I’ll just say that dance itself has opened some paths for me recently and brought me a lot of joy and purpose in whatever it is we’re all doing here. 14 years after my first Freero I’m still coming away from each one feeling grateful and inspired. Deepest thanks as ever to @steevio.suzybee for all the love, care, attention and work they put into this, and to the broad community of workers, volunteers and artists that all contribute. <3

A recording of Peter Van Hoesen playing an experimental drum & bass set at The Labyrinth 2025 at Hodaigi Campground on Friday night, October 11, 2025.

The Labyrinth 2025 - Peter Van Hoesen (Experimental Drum & Bass set)

It's my pleasure to welcome Japan-born and London-based Lynne to the series, the Astral Industries and Unknown Species resident known across oceans for her uncompromising explorations into the sonic unknown. Recorded live at this year's Chaos Ambiants festival, a gathering of experimental sound in France's Morvan Regional National Park, this set captures Lynne in her most visceral element, expanding breathlessly from a resonant whisper to a wide-open vortex. Within the span of two hours Lynne reconfigures time and space into an orbit all her own, a boundless vision reaching past the mind's periphery. Thanks Lynne!

Sure Thing Mix 155: Lynne

Cinematic techno from the mysterious Dutch producer.

Some of the best techno is both beautiful and austere. On an old Robert Hood or Sandwell District track, the industrial clank of percussion gives way to bursts of melody where you can hear the ghosts singing inside the machines. It's this version of techno that the Dutch producer nthng has been honing since the mid-2010s, from his debut on Lobster Theremin's Mörk to records for Delsin.

His take on techno, borrowing from trance, dub and ambient, has always hewed close to the edge of the dance floor, that space where dancers keep their eyes shut and get lost in the shadows.

For RA.1059, he delivers an hour from the most visceral and cinematic end of his sound. The opening suite of four of his own tracks is nothing (pun intended) short of breathtaking: sky-searching IDM turns into chromatic techno, followed by a dubstep-referencing vocal track with a rolling break that hits with the weight of a guillotine, before he lets loose a slightly syncopated barnstormer. He never lets the drama and tension slip across the remaining 48 minutes, ending on his own piece of paranoid and skeletal drum & bass.

Continuum: a coherento whole characterized as a collection, sequence, or progression of values or elements varying by minute degrees.

We have been waiting for a long time to have @imox_x on the channel. Her music has a rare ritualistic and spiritual quality, and the way she navigates experimental breaks, halftime and drum & bass is incredible.

Those in Barcelona are lucky enough to experience her sets far more often than I do. For me, the chances to see her play are always too few and far between, but every time I do, she conpletely blows my mind. She is a force to be reckoned with in my hometown and beyond, playing at the best events like Torax, Human, Nitsa, and many festivals too. She is part of the @sub.radio crew, a bunch I can call family.

I'm Incredibly happy to welcome Luna to the series with this recording from P*: another incredible set, and one I'm very glad we get to preserve and dhsare here. Witness Imox casting her enchanting spell in the magic forest with a masterclass in the most psychedelic breaks. Pure witchcraft.

Thank you dear Imox and @espacio.perpendicular
for letting us share this recording.

After a short little break, we return with a beautifully woven ambient trip by one of our absolute favourites... Simon Huxtable, aka Inhmost.

"I wanted to create a journey for ‘The Observatory’ that takes the listener through a variety of ambient realms that spans some of the peaks and troughs that this music can provide. My aim is that depth and beauty live alongside mysterious and otherworldly sounds. I hope that this mix instills the feeling of organic natural vibes along with dreamy digital excursions.

The labels featured for this mix includes Captured Visions, Stasis Recordings, Past Inside the Present, Zake Drone Recordings and A Strangely Isolated Place. With contributions from Owl, Almost An Island, ASC, The Vision Reels, Zake, Ossa, James Bernard, Iamasz & Grandbruit, Tyresta, Twilight From Subspace, Mikkel Rev, Noodle Therapy and Inhmost.

I really hope that you enjoy the journey and that it helps you escape reality for a short time.

Much Love
