On a very special episode of "The Jackson 5ive" animated television series (1971-1972), Michael Jackson's pet mice, Ray and Charles, slip out of their cage and lead the Jackson brothers on a wild goose (mouse?) chase through downtown Motown.  Fun and hijinks result when the brothers inadvertently stumble into the studio where This Week's Very Special Guests®, British pop group Swing Out Sister, are recording their smash hit, "Am I The Same Girl".  Without missing a beat (and with no conceivable reason why the studio would just conveniently have a bunch of mics patched up for them, much less the track space on their state of the art 8 channel multitrack tape machine to accommodate such a drop in, to say nothing of the fact that SOS didn't record their smash hit for another 20 years), the producer just hits "record" and the Jacksons lay down a sassy funk vocal version of their hit single "ABC", alongside SOS singer Corinne Drewery. The combined performance leaves the canned studio audience in stunned silence.  The audience emerges from this trance-like state just in time for a perfectly measured round of polite applause as the performers execute an uncannily perfect "fade out", playing and singing quieter and quieter until they are no longer audible to ordinary human hearing.

Delighted with this performance, the show runners at Rankin/Bass slot this episode in for the Season Three premiere in the Fall of 1972.  Sadly, the pinheads at ABC Television have other plans, and the series is cancelled at the end of Season Two.  

It is believed that the negatives for this episode were destroyed shortly after ABC's decision.  

Recently, however, a single promotional photo of young Michael Jackson and SOS lead singer Corinne Drewery surfaced, stuck to the back of a tape box labeled "1972 International Plumbers Conference (IPC) Keynote Speech - Safety Copy".  It was only when the IPC Archivist (preparing a new 5-part series on "The History of Check Valve Technology in the USA") put the mislabeled tape on the machine that this track -- a lone recording of the magic the Jackson Five and Swing Out Sister made on that fateful day in 1972-- finally came to light.

Now, for the first time -- it is available for your enjoyment.
