Dj Phi Phi’s career started in 1985.
One of most reputed belgium night club requested Phi Phi as resident DJ at “At The Villa” in 1987.
Following the several ascension as resident Dj at all biggest & famous nightlife in clubs such as Boccaccio Life (Destelbergen-Be) and Cirao (WaregemBe) in 1993. He was Phi Phi resident dj at Cafe d’Anvers in 1994, Tour & Taxi (1996), Fuse, Oxygene, Pulp (2001) & Barocco.
Known all over Belgium for his “Phi Phi Legendary Monday’s” at Extreme (Affligem, Brussels) between 1994 and 2002.
He has been played at worldwide Clubs & Festivals as Tomorrowland, Legacy Festival, WMC, Nikki Beach (Miami), Privilege (Ibiza), Noxx (Anvers), Fuse (Brussel), Pulse Factory with headliners such as Paul Van Dyk, John Digweed, Sasha, Oliver Lieb (LSG), Laurent Garnier & Danny Howells..

PRODUCER CAREER
Debut music producing started in completely french collaboration with Philippe Van Mullem in 1989 with, inter alia, UNA (Emotion, Can you hear me..), HONEY C (Stop the disease, Desire..), INNERTALES (Odysee, Voices Of Sirens..), QUADRAN (Eternaly, Free your mind..) and following the Quadran Debut Album “VOYAGE” which is kick-started movements of melodic & uplifting trance.

In 1995, Phi-Phi and French Dj-Producer Gregory Dewindt debut massive revelation “PHI PHI & GREG D – Jesus Trip” (X-Stream / DIKI Records) which has definitely burned the nightlife and got lot of influences, the most famous tune in belgian DJ scene and still a legendary track today, then this greatest seller announced the following amazing Duo classic & popular release “L’Odysee Of Love” & “Contact” on Bonzaï Trance Progressive.

Label brand Mackenzie Recordings founded by Stef Garner & Patrick Fasseau trusts to Phi Phi whose both tracks “Magma” & “Jungles Trip” cames out in 2003.
Then Stef Garner and Phi Phi, under the nick name “DB Movement”, released the house track “Funk Shaker” (WORK Records) in 2005 and both tracks “Rotation” & Evidence” (LCD Recordings) in 2013.

Phi Phi & Airwaves started kind of very british progressive sounds inspired of Bedrock style. Influenced so far by Sasha & John Digweed, their tracks such as “Back on track”, “Breeze on the nile”, “The Horn”, “Vanilla” & “Finesse” signed on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE get on top in best seller Beatport and Itunes in 2013.

2014 saw the new collaboration with Label founder IFONIKA RECORDINGS and friend, Roddy Reynaert. Their First E.P “Platinum” & “Neurotrope” has been released on special “Underground Series” on Roddy ‘s Label IFONIKA.

From 2015 to 2017, “Atlan”, “Believe”, “Mayhem” “Circulation” “Haarp” “Aokighara” “Tempora” “Cirao” + Remix were released with Roddy on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE rec.
“Tour & Taxi” “Corossol” and a remix of G-Brown “This is who we are” on SUFFUSED Rec

and compilation PHI PHI In The Mix 004 on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE.

2019 saw the new collaboration with Manu Riga and the release on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE of “Moon Dust” Those Who Left Us” and “Voyage a Goa” “Larmes Dans La Pluie” …

For now he has got several new projects in the pipeline and has his monthly podcast program ‘Mouvement Perpetuel’ that has become a regular club concept in 2019!
In 2020 Phi-Phi celebrates his 35 years as being a dj and producer with a club, event and festival tour!

For Rune Reilly Kölsch, Kompakt has become a great label to call home. In 2013 the German imprint celebrated 20 years of record releases at the cutting edge of electronic music, championed in June by one of the most genre re-defining albums and personal music projects for an era: Kölsch’s landmark long player, ‘1977’.

A melodic autobiography on black wax, the Kölsch project has seen 36/37-year-old Rune take stock of a diverse and successful production career and draw upon his own personal beginnings: a nostalgia for childhood, family, friends and the confusion of applying his split-cultural heritage to what it means to think of ‘home’. As Rune freely admits, “being half Irish, half German and living in Denmark – it was all one big messy period of my life.” 

Born to hippie parents in the freetown of Christiania (a commune-like autonomous borough of the Danish capital Copenhagen) his childhood was spent surrounded by creativity. His mother was an artist whose family had roots in German politics and his father a singer songwriter who travelled through Asia playing music in the early 70's. Kölsch, however, did miss out on building friendships and found solace in making up “this imaginary world that I would spend days in,” before the family moved to Germany – a period of memories, relations and characters from which ‘1977’ derives its titles.

For Rune, the tracks he began building from 2010 took in this personal reflection, his being “completely locked in to reminiscing about what shaped me as a kid and into the individual that I am now” – contemplating his unique past to form the brickwork of ‘1977’, one of the most future-facing techno albums of recent years.

Influenced by hip hop, pop and the incredible legacy of Jeff Mills and Derrick May, Rune started producing in 1995, embarking on a string of success stories. In 2003 he released the multi-million selling, saxophone-infused ‘Calabria’, that saw collaboration requests pouring in from artists as diverse as Nicki Minaj, Shakira and Flo Rida. He then set up Tattoorecs – releasing pioneering underground tracks with no titles, just tattoos for artwork, that garnered critical acclaim and support from minimal and techno trailblazers such as Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin, Magda, Tiefschwarz and Ricardo Villalobos.

This appreciation of the complete musical spectrum has gifted Rune with a devotion to groove and melodics and with it the dexterity to input real creative change to the genres he reveres, not least his beloved techno. “2010 was the year of the ketamine house wave, where the music was 118 bpm and everything was extremely boring”, reflects Rune. “I wanted some melodic techno, some energy back in this scene. People needed the energy to express themselves and go crazy for a bit.”

This notion faced opposition, even from within Rune’s close circles. But it was Kompakt founder Michael Mayer who had the insight to see what Kölsch was trying to achieve. Rune’s conviction that vibrations and melodics are the key to human response had tipped the balance, underlined by his experience as a hip hop DJ where he “needed something to catch me and drag me in. And that’s what techno should do!” Here too he drew on his love of Jeff Mills and Derrick May, recalling how “they used to make mistakes all the time. It would be a big mash of all kinds of stuff, but at least something was happening. That’s what I was missing and that’s what I’m trying to change with the Kölsch project.”

The result is ‘1977’, a personal collection of dancefloor destroyers that are continuing to send clubs and festivals across the globe into melodic supernova. Take this video of Kölsch’s set at Belgium’s I Love Techno festival, one of Rune’s 2013 highlights, where “people were doing sit downs, singing along to all the tracks”. Watch it. It puts the hairs up on the back of your neck. “The response was overwhelming,” said Rune in a recent interview with Mixmag (who named Kölsch as one of their ‘Stars Of 2013’), as “when you think about it, it was just a bunch of childhood memories with a kickdrum underneath.” 

Elsewhere he’s ripped up the airways with an acclaimed Essential Mix for Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, delivered his incendiary soundscape to Singapore’s world-renowned ZoukOut Festival, boomed his live show through the heaving basement of London’s XOYO and played the hallowed Space Terrace – in his words “a boyhood dream since I started going to Ibiza in 1999. That was what I wanted from life!” So opening Amnesia in 2014 with Joris Voorn will be a bonus then...

While these are reasons enough to keep the beaming smile beneath Kölsch’s trademark black fedora, his humility remains just as striking. While tracks like ‘Goldfisch’ have taken pivotal positions in the set lists of world class DJs from across the dance music spectrum – traversing the underground with Seth Troxler, while simultaneously providing credible new euphoric highs for the likes of Axwell – Rune remains joyously down to earth. All despite producing, with ‘1977’, an album that has crossed as many cultural and musical boundaries as his own childhood past.

From the face-twisting melodic drive of ‘Opa’ and ‘Bappedekkel’, to the chord-surfing piano groove of ‘Der Alte’ and the euphoric crescendos of ‘Lorely’, ‘Oma’ and ‘All That Matters’ (all hits in different countries), the fact remains that whether in your living room, on the dancefloors of the world’s greatest parties, or simply in your headphones on your way home, Kölsch’s ‘1977’ has re-defined techno and become an achievement that speaks for itself.

WHO’S THAT JACK ?
Jack de Marseille, de son vrai nom Jacques Garrotta, est né le 19 décembre 1965. Il vit à Marseille.

Connu avant tout comme pionnier de la musique électronique, il a contribué, dès la fin des années 80, à l’émergence de la scène électronique française. Le succès de ses sets lui valent d’être élu meilleur DJ français en 1998 par Coda, premier magazine consacré exclusivement aux musiques et cultures électroniques depuis 1996. L’année suivante, c’est Trax qui le classe numéro un.
Souvent estampillé, de manière réductrice, « DJ house », Jack de Marseille pose problème aux gens qui cherchent à le cataloguer.En écoutant ses sets aux influences multiples, reconnaissables entre tous, on comprend qu’il résiste à toute nomenclature. Son identité est marquée par l’énergie des rythmes et des couleurs qu’il juxtapose, mixe, fond et dynamite en réponse au dancefloor, qu’il considère comme le cœur, la destination de sa musique. Une sensibilité exacerbée mais aussi profonde, à fleur de peau, révélée par des accents deep plus doux, plus sensuels.

JOUER AVEC LES LIMITES…
Refusant d’être catégorisé, Jack joue avec les limites. De la même manière qu’il a toujours révélé un penchant pour les sports extrêmes, tels que le ski acrobatique qu’il pratiquait assidûment ; ou les sports pratiqués à l’extrême, comme le tennis, dont il a d’ailleurs abandonné l’enseignement pour pouvoir se consacrer exclusivement à la musique. 

UN TOURNANT DÉCISIF…
En mai et juillet 1992, Jack co-organise les soirées Atomix à Marseille, à la Friche de la Belle de Mai. C’est la première fois qu’une rave party a droit de cité, et le succès de ces soirées est d’autant plus spectaculaire qu’ayant lieu en ville, elles sont accessibles au plus grand nombre.
L’affluence est record, l’atmosphère surchauffée. La carrière de Jack de Marseille prend alors un tournant décisif après des interventions mémorables : c’est la première fois qu’il joue dans un événement hors club et devant une assemblée aussi nombreuse. Sa musique y trouve une amplitude complètement nouvelle et l’énergie de ses sets est décuplée.
Le buzz autour de ces soirées, au cours desquelles il rencontre Laurent Garnier, est tel qu’il est aussitôt contacté pour jouer aux Transmusicales de Rennes dès décembre 1992.

Dès lors, il est booké dans plus grands évènements et festivals électroniques de la planète : Boréalis à Montpellier, Astropolis à Brest, Sonär à Barcelone, Dance Valley à Amsterdam, I love techno à Gand, Energy en Suisse, Soirées Mayday au Mexique et en Allemagne, Nature One et Timewarp en Allemagne aussi, Sziget à Budapest, Creamfields festival à Buenos Aires, Global Gathering en Angleterre, La Fiesta des Suds et Marsatac à Marseille…

DE DJ À PRODUCTEUR
Fort de ces expériences multiples, il se décide à composer sa propre musique et produit ainsi, en 1997, Submerge, son premier titre, sur Ozone, le label de Oxia et Kiko, sur lequel ils furent aussi les premiers à signer The Hacker.
Cette nouvelle orientation de sa carrière motive la création de son label Wicked Music en 2001. Jack veut se donner les moyens de faire profiter de son succès en produisant d’autres artistes. Il signe, entre autres, EDP, David Carretta, Trisomie 21, 2 Rare People. En 2002, il sort aussi son premier album Free my music (Wicked Music / Wagram) qui s’écoulera à 16 500 exemplaires.
Les années suivantes sont denses. Jack de Marseille est booké aux quatre coins du monde et continue de produire de nombreux remixes pour des artistes aussi prestigieux qu’Audio Bullys, P.Diddy, Slow Train, The Advent, Anthony Rother. 2JACK4U (Wagram) et d’autres nombreuses compil mixées reflétant la diversité de ses orientations musicales sont aussi éditées sur son label. 

2006 : MARSEILLE, LE RETOUR AUX SOURCES…
Et à un format temporel plus long dans lequel la musique prend le tempsde s’épanouir, de transporter son public et de le faire redescendre, devient d’ailleurs l’étalon du nouvel album de Jack de Marseille.

2009 : INNER VISION, CONCEPT ALBUM…
Produit avec la complicité de Sébastien Rexovice -ingénieur du son et ami de toujours- Inner Visions est conçu comme un voyage intérieur mélodique, inspiré, dans lequel l’artiste essaye de retrouver la diversité de sa culture musicale et la dynamique de ses DJ sets. Il y métisse ses constantes deep house et techno de Detroit, les rythmiques dub berlinoises, renoue même avec les voix sur un des titres… L’album propose aussi plusieurs niveaux d’écoute : très chill à bas régime, il révèle des accents dancefloor dès qu’on monte le volume, confirmant les talents de producteur de Jack de Marseille et son souci de bousculer les gens, de toucher les âmes et de faire danser les corps.
Pour asseoir l’univers dans lequel il cherche à nous immerger, Jack a tenu à créer des liens avec d’autres artistes pour que sa musique résonne par-delà les sons, dans les esprits. Dans la pochette du disque, Aline Soler pose en quelques vers l’écho du verbe en regard du travail du musicien, comme une manière de l’éclairer. La langue est concise, bute sur les mots, répète les rythmes... Le visuel de l’album, reproduisant une peinture de Vika Prokopaviciute, artiste russe, ouvre les portes d’un univers mental à la fois figuré et abstrait, coloré et inquiétant, stylé et psychédélique…

Il est là, sûrement, le champ ouvert par Jack de Marseille : proposer des destinations nouvelles de la production de musiques, satisfaire son publictout en déplaçant ses attentes pour l’emmener ailleurs, le faire rêver… Mais toujours en rythme...
