I carry deep in my chest,
the one who laughs for no reason
and dreams without looking ahead.

Let them not dim his gaze,
nor steal away his mirrors,
where he still sees mighty castles
and ships built out of wishes.

Don’t silence his laughter,
don’t cover up his sky,
don’t sell him hollow truths
dressed in the price of goodbyes.

Let no one kill the child

as if that were some great quest,
nor drag him through the alleys
of a world grey and story-less.

Let him wander barefoot
through the puddles of memory,
with a stick as his brave sword
