East-London's Riva Starr joins Defected's illustrious list of House Masters as he continues to establish himself as one of the world's top DJs and producers. Growing up surrounded by the rich musical culture of Southern Italy, Starr's influences come from all over; the sounds of Africa, Greece, Spain and the Balkans are ever-present within his revered house releases. Genre-wise his approach is similarly expansive, first falling for breakbeat after years of experimentation in Naples, before exploding onto the UK fidget and deep house scene in the noughties. Years later, the Snatch! owner's epic catalogue is brimming with the very best club music this side of the millennium, unrestricted by genre convention and bursting with eclectic samples and unpredictable references. This compilation features club belters alongside deeper cuts that seamlessly mix addictive vocal samples with hard-hitting house rhythms, as well as expert remixes and collaborations with fellow industry titans. Next up on Toolroom Trax is the return of UK duo Saison featuring house vocalist E-Man and singer Rachel Foxx with ‘Let’s Be Free’. Saison know no boundaries to their ever-growing catalogue after emerging with their brand-new alias Friendly Ghosts in collaboration with The Shapeshifters and fresh house imprint ‘Pleased As Punch’ which showcases Saison’s diversity in the studio and beyond.

‘Let’s Be Free’ is the incredible follow up to Toolroom Trax single ‘Satisfy The Need’ that was released earlier this year that received mad love on the dancefloor from ACRAZE, Dombresky, Martin Garrix, Friend Within and of course label head Mark Knight to name a few. Debuting on DVINE Sounds at the end of 2019 with 'Desire', Italian duo Brokenears return to the imprint with their next red-hot delivery, 'The Game'. Showcasing their signature club-focussed sound, this release illustrates their affinity for fusing classic house sounds with new school production methods, as adrenaline fuelled builds, a thundering bassline and punchy hi-hats are offset by the powerful vocal that brims with soul. The next release on Toolroom Trax comes from Johan S, who made his Trax debut back in June with ‘Don’t Belong Here’ - This time, he teams up with AndMe & Bastian for a 90s inspired tune titled ‘Come Back Home’. 

From the first few seconds of hearing this, you’re welcomed by crisp drums and a solid beat. It has a real authentic 90’s feel to it. Packed with nostalgia and a catchy vocal, it’s a fine release on our underground imprint as we continue to go down this bumpy house route!
