The Los Angeles based Steve Huerta popped up on our radar via his releases on the formidable Amadeus Records and Dirt Crew Recordings.

Kicking off the EP is the title track 'Smoky', a late night house jam with sombre piano chords that weave their way round the track like hazy smoke in dimly lit room. Melancholic vocal cuts add a hefty slab of soul to the production.

On the flip side is 'Adrift', deep pads are the order of the day here. Stretching across the track like a warm blanket, only briefly changing to climb up the scale. The bass line is perfect simplicity, 3 deep chugs of the sub are juxtaposed by a brief arpeggiated refrain.

Sek was born in Greece in 1986. From the beginning he was keen for music and at the age of six began his first piano lessons. His interest for different instruments is visible; Accordion and Clarinet were the next to charm him. He soon found himself practicing his skills at the local philharmonic band. Growing up, he becomes enchanted by the raw and abstract sound and lyrics of the international and Greek hip hop scene. At that time he started to buy and collect vinyl records and cds building a large and varied collection. While fifteen years old he won his first residency at a local club. At the age of 18, after finishing high school studies, he was accepted at the University of Ionian Islands, located in Cephalonia, in the northwest of Greece. He  studied Music Technology for a year but his passion for music lead him to the capital of Greece, Athens, where he managed to finish his studies along with broadening his music knowledge.

In Athens, where he has lived from 2005, he has won numerous residencies in various  elite clubs (Barouge, Figaro, Vanilla).  During this time Sek began working with Greek record label The Sound of Everything in the distribution department. In 2006 he decided that music production is his life passion and decided to work as hard as possible for it. After experimenting with different producing soft-wares it is Ableton that twisted his mind away and he uses it exclusively.

His music is a blend of deep, tech house, and oldschool vibes always with a raw and abstract sensation/perspective which are the dominant ingredients of his life.

Déepalma presents volume three of its popular Various Artist EP-series, with label core acts Rosario Galati and David Caballero joining forces with Mexico’s Softpaw to provide four powerful club bullets, due for release on 17th February.

After previously teaming up with Kittball Records, Déepalma EP Vol.3 sees Sicilian producer Rosario Galati return to his home imprint to unveil a pair of impressive house cuts namely ‚Okay!‘ and ‚Believe‘, both standing out with their infectious grooves composed of super tight beats, heavy low-ends and twisted effects.

Spanish House matador David Caballero then adds his deep trippy ‚Look At You‘, a powerhouse production with punchy beats, energetic synths and a splendid pitched down vocal hook, before Mexican youngster Softpaw concludes the package with his dusky summertime number ‘I+D+K+Y’ featuring an impassioned vocal shining on a deep poignant production.
