Nine releases under their belt, and still, ItaloJohnson keep up the invisibility act. Dance music's most inconspicuous production/DJ trio maintain their enigmatic persona, as they present ITJ10. After almost a yearlong absence, they are marking the anniversary of release no. 10 by switching up their white labels to black.

As was expected, their press release leaves a lot to the imagination, merely stating that the boys "are, in fact, the Ghostbusters." Needless to say, their tenth catalogue number is made up of two absolutely blinding constructions for the dancefloor. Following the typical ITJ rhetoric, the opening "ITJ10 A1" needs near-to-no explanation – flaunting some of the biggest club music sounds we've heard from the anonymous three-piece. Heady synth chords and an insatiable drum beat that kicks you right in the face. It's pretty impossible for this track not to possess you instantly. Who you gonna call?

BPitch Control loves such strong and independent characters like Jesse Perez. The American label boss of Mr. Nice Guy Records embodies the modern old-school by blending Booty House with Miami Bass into this lascivious sound he calls Bump-N-Grind. After his „THOT EP“ from 2015, we’re happy the „dirty mastermind“ is back with another EP on BPitch Control. And „Cell Phones“ proves once again why Jesse Perez represents the real street sound of Miami. 

Its title track starts with his hip-hop drive of massive bass and even richer percussion, although „Cell Phones“ isn’t meant as a tribute to the technical progress rather than spreading a hedonistic message. Using the words of West Coast icon Egyptian Lover, they’re recalling that mobile phones don’t belong on the dance floor – all that matters is the very moment, the here and now. „Double Is Good, Triple Is Better" continues to unfold this back-to-the-roots feeling when Perez samples the old funk track „Double Dutch Bus“, which established the izz slang and radiates the old day’s block party vibe. „Twerk Machine“ and „The One Two Checka“ on the B-side get to the heart of his multifaceted talents: Jesse Perez established a bootylicious house sound that integrates breakbeats and interspersed vocal samples as well as electro-infected tunes and his unique style of vintage dance floor soul.
