Next up on Kaluki this summer, we are welcoming another label newcomer, this time in the form of Ecuadorian DJ and producer, Jose Apolo, who makes his debut on the imprint with his brand new, Enamorado EP. Since kickstarting his DJ career in 2020 with his first release on Detlefs Issues label, Jose has gone on to draw support from the Tech House community with his tracks being supported by a number of respected DJs within the scene. The dancefloor focused Enamorado EP entices listeners with its percolating rhythms, rise and fall acid inspired basslines, trippy synths, hip swinging claps and cleverly chopped vocals throughout. On Reinier Zonneveld’s remix, the Filth On Acid boss warps Topping’s vocals from ‘Planet Session’ into a pounding track complete with ravey stabs and grinding low-end. Sola_mente Records founder Deborah De Luca flips ‘Quick To The Mothership’ into a trippy, late-night techno cut, before Drumcode, Hot Creations, and We Are The Brave affiliate Rebūke rounds out the release with a sharp, jacking take on Topping’s ‘Lift Off’.

A forward-thinking collaboration born from Radio 1’s Lockdown Linkup programme, ‘Flashing Lights’ is the surging techno anthem from internationally revered producer Alan Fitzpatrick and singer / DJ extraordinaire Bklava. The duo meld sonically to create a chuggy odyssey of stomping kicks and fleeting chord stabs reminiscent of nineties warehouse settings. Acting as an overseer of sorts, Danny Howard challenged some of his favourite artists to join forces and create an exclusive collaborative track for his BBC Radio 1 broadcast. Previous artist collaborations include Skream & Boys Noize, Hot Since 82 & Rudimental, MK and Kolsch. The hypnotic qualities of ‘Flashing Lights’ is the joint sum of ethereal vocal contributions from Bklava and clever synth manipulation via Fitzpatrick, sure to cause waves of sheer energy in the club.
