Power intros are memorable

“Power intros are excellent tools to claim your ‘A’ category songs as a part of your station’s brand”, Thomas Giger of PURE Jingles explains. “Distinctive branded intros that have been repeated often enough will stick in people’s minds. Chances are they will associate that great-testing song with you.”

This strategic branding value can also translate into ratings: “Hearing the normal version of that song, even on another station, listeners who know your power intro will often hum YOUR station name along the melody of your branded version. It’s one of those miracles of audio branding! Sung melodies are memorable, research shows.”


Branded intros work everywhere

“In diary-measured, recall-based markets, your station can get extra listening credits as people may THINK they’ve been listening to you - while it may actually could have been a competitor. Especially when the other station doesn’t have their own power intro version or doesn’t precede the song with imaging.”

Branded intros also add value to PPM-market radio: “Power intros are contributing to higher top-of-mind positioning. And just as important: they’re flow-friendly. Dropping the imaging on the song, instead of in between two songs, helps to achieve forward momentum. Short jingle cuts work well too, especially in front of ‘no-intro’ songs.”

This Friday, the national Dutch chart show Top 40 has a remarkable new entry. Radio 538, market leader in The Netherlands premieres with a new jingle package. The Top 40 marks the ultimate weekend kick-off, playing the forty most popular songs of the week. The current and diverse styles of today’s songs now majorly influence the dynamic and uplifting chart show imaging. 

The custom jingle dept. of Top Format cooperated closely with Radio 538 host Jeroen Nieuwenhuize and imaging director Chris Hartgers in order to create the best chart show package. The package exists from main ID’s, shotguns, personality ID’s and an astounding set of talk-over beds. This brand new package contains over 200 different elements. Besides the weekly 40 best songs, the iconic Top 40 show opener song is completely re-designed and arranged to become a massive hit at its own!

EKDOM IN THE MORNING / NPO RADIO 2

An alarm clock, scrambled eggs, loads of coffee and host Gerard Ekdom! Workdays start better with ‘Ekdom In The Morning’ at national public broadcaster NPO Radio 2. In the summer of 2015 the preparations for the new morning show started off with a pitch for their jingles and audio imaging.
Triggered by the passion, vibe of a new morning show, Spotify playlist and briefing of team Ekdom, Top Format developed a unique pitch entry. The ultimate morning mood full of positivity, guts, power and above all: goose bumps! The results have such a convincing radio feel that the pitch in collaboration with Peter Kok and Gerard Ekdom turned into awesome morning show jingles!
The custom jingle package for BNN VARA on NPO Radio 2 includes:
3 Show themes, 5 Daily show songs, 18 Sweeps and 3 Morning IDs.
The jingles and songs are created in collaboration with Top Format’s musicians, composers and producers. The lyrics of the songs and sweeps breathe the typical "Ekdom” feeling, thanks to the writers of Top Format, and guarantee a brand new steamy start of each workday.

Het Genootschap radiojingles en -tunes eert Ferry Maat met een SPECIALE DEMO, met daarin de beste jingles en fillers uit 40 jaar Soulshow. 27.02.2013 - Het VARA audiologo, VARA's woensdag- en vrijdag-editie, Spijkers met Koppen, in de Rooie Haan, het Spijkerlied, zo maar enkele RTV-muziek van de hand van componist Henk Westrus. Wie aan de huiscomposities denkt van de VARA, denkt aan Henk Westrus. Hij overleed afgelopen nacht in een ziekenhuis in Hilversum op 75-jarige leeftijd, zo heeft zijn familie meegedeeld.
Henk Westrus trad in 1951 voor het eerst op als begeleider van artiest Lou Bandy. Toen was hij 14 jaar oud. Hij werkte veel samen met tekstschrijvers als Willem Wilmink, Jack Gadellaa, Fred Florusse, Drs. P. en Ivo de Wijs.
Een greep uit de programmatitels waar hij de muziek voor maakte: Bij Koos, Gedane Zaken (KRO), Jeugdweekjournaal, Nieuwslijn (Veronica). Muzikaal werkte hij ook mee aan programma's als Farce Majeure, 't Schaep met de 5 pooten,  aan de TV-shows van Willem Ruis, Rudi Carell en Sonja Barend. Ook trad hij op met Toon Hermans en stond hij aan de wieg van Kinderen voor kinderen. Alhoewel hij voor talloze andere opdrachtgevers werkte, werd Henk Westrus toch vooral gezien als huiscomponist van de VARA. Hij was van dezelfde tunes-generatie als Marian de Garriga, die ook veel voor de VARA componeerde. Zij overleed in 2000.
