Freedom is a new song by Mau Power that features the legendary Archie Roach. The song is an inspirational anthem that gives the audience a great feeling of hope when listening to it. 

Freedom’s soulful music is driven by a thumbing kick drum that lays the foundation for Mau Power’s & Archie Roach’s dynamic and passionate vocals.   

The song represents a local yet is a universal story of freedom from mental slavery. It is a ‘protest’ song that manages to embrace and welcome all listeners to walk with Uncle Archie and Mau Power on the road to unity.  

A modern sound that resonates with an ancient soul, its inspirational lyrics create a want for a better future and a belief that it can and will be obtained.

I first fell in love with New York City in the winter of 2001.  I arrived alone to audition for a rock and roll band, to escape the Midwest and to see what I was really capable of.  I found a magical, electric city united and hardened in the crucible of devastation.  It took about 24 hours of hard drinking and subway arguments to be granted New Yorker status.  I would stumble from one Manhattan adventure to the next for the remainder of my 20’s before succumbing to the pull of the west in 2007.
 
I’ve now lived in Los Angeles longer than I lived in NYC, but I’m still a New Yorker at heart.  Time has yielded perspective and Red Line Express is a reduction of my early experiences as a naïve Midwestern kid learning to be a jaded man – the hard way.

‘Beyond the Crows’ is a stunning collection of songs that were recorded over the space of 20 days by producer and engineer Cherif Hashizume. Grammy Award winning engineer William Bowden, best known for his work with Gotye and his hit song ‘Somebody that I Used to Know’, has mastered the album in its entirety.
