CULTURE Hip Hop Vol. 1 is the first official release from Free Range Music Cooperative & Rogue Citizen, a set of new studio collaborations between veteran and emerging artists. The project is made possible thanks to support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Featured artists include:
CRESCENT MOON (Kill the Vultures, Mixed Blood Majority), GUANTE, SEAN ANONYMOUS, DARREN DAVIS (Dearling Physique), CHANCE YORK (Crunchy Kids), MARIA ISA, GREG GREASE, JOE HASTINGS (Hastings 3000, Sex Rays), and more.

CULTURE began as an ongoing live series, the brainchild of Marcus Kar, co-founder of Free Range Music Cooperative. Born in west Africa, raised in south Minneapolis, Kar is a multi-instrumentalist and singer who has been making music in diverse genres for years, including punk, soul, jazz, rap and blues. As the main producer his signature vocals turn up in nearly every track, most prominently on the soulful chorus in “Fear.”

The CULTURE Hip Hop Series is also directed by artist, designer and organizer Lizardman, co-founder of Rogue Citizen artgang.
