This was my contribution for Disquiet Junto Project 0603: Animated Suspension

Here’s a copy of my post on the Disquiet Junto 0603 discussion thread:
This week's theme based on “something floating in air" is close to what I envisioned when coming up with "Air Spaces" a couple months ago, so I used it as my submission. Initial track was created on a Roland Aira J6. Additional tracks were added in Ableton Live using Arturia CZ V. 

Final audio was recorded to cassette tape using a Fostex X-18 4-track and copied back into Live using an inexpensive stereo cassette player with weak batteries, which resulted in slower tape speed (about 30 percent less). This was recorded in Long Island, NY in the summer of 2023

Andreas' orchestral musings (listen here: https://on.soundcloud.com/6DcQotEVL1dtwric8) inspired me to dust off a couple of old favourites, amongst them the Moog MurF, to try and come up with some pulsating, filtered low end guitar as well as a bunch of more hissy, trebly improvs. Recorded quite a few takes and selected those bits that complement his gorgeous, sweeping, cinematic track. A fair bit of editing in Logic Pro ensued, adding and subtracting, until the pacing & the mix felt right, with enough room to add to for the next stage, the third track.


Hope you enjoy it and inspires some of you to add your part on top of this!

I just jammed on top of it with my accordina but it was too much of the three of us, so I split the stereo original, separated he_nu_ri,  mikey_a and myself on 3 tracks (softly panned like the original with mine at centre) and made some very creative use of the delete button, as Eno used to say.

That created some space that I then filled with huge reverbs. I’m afraid I didn’t really honoured the source track on this one, but it is done so I better share it.
