Exclusive: Aerofunk - Definition Of III

Hailing from Merseyside County, Liverpool to be precise, it's Aerofunk kicking off Silias Records label history with his Heaven EP, a musical conglomeration consisting out of four tracks that cover various influences from different genres. The A1 Definition Of Ill comes in with a break-esque Electro tone, including a wobbling and heavy hitting bass line that makes the EP-opener a track to make the crowd roll on the latter. Starting off with pads Definition Of Ill seems to take the listener on a smooth Melo-ride at first but changes into a true floor filler that has it all: a wobbling bass, spoken vocals that are shortened, re-sorted and scratched and the before mentioned heavy bass line which is enriched with a creaking Electro-synth. Not only does the Aerofunk's track kick off the EP with a bang but also sets the bar high for following releases on the Silias Records.

Aerofunk's Active EP will be released on Silias Records on May 20th, 2022.

EXCLUSIVE: Aerofunk - Definition Of III [Silias Records]

Exclusive: Lis Sarroca - 3000

Barcelona-based exceptional artist Lis Sarroca continues her triumphal path of releasing quality music. After EPs on Shall Not Fade, Chiwax, a contribution to Cinthie's DJ Kicks compilation and her own label Maai, she returns to the latter and kicks off its 2022 madness with a club-oriented two tracker called Driven. The EP's title track comes in with a Lis-typical housey bass line, playful synths and slight break-esque nuances as heard in previous releases of Lis and certainly a major influence for her productions. However, Driven takes the floors by storm, the deep tone though breathes another facet of her creative being into the track and perfectly adds a vibe to the track that separates it from usual peak time tracks in a rather classy manner. The B-side, namely 3000, has a proper UK-vibe with a slight Rave-attitude caused by the deep partly bleepy synth-line and spoken vocals. Just as on the A1 Lis manages to create an artsy piece of music that expresses her preferences in an unobtrusive way - on the one side Driven as well as 3000 stoke those peak time moments but on the other side have this depth and coolness to not do the obvious and expected and therefore makes floors ache for more. 

Lis Sarroca's Driven EP was released on Maai on May 6th, 2022.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
