With releases on Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations and BPitch Control, it's safe to say Venezuelan-originating, Barcelona-based duo Fur Coat are backed by some real key players.

Last year's 'There's No Time' EP on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss' HC was a proper smash, with the title track a certainty to mess with your mind. That followed the 'U Turn' EP on Damian Lazarus' Crosstown, a tasty four-tracker of sizzling grooves.

Soon they make their debut for Balance, mixing the 'Balance presents Fur Coat' compilation featuring cuts by DJ Koze, Francesca Lombardo, Roman Flügel and a couple from themselves.

When remixing a track like "Green," I wanted to approach it with caution and respect. I found the original piece already had such a special, emotive, and powerful club atmosphere that the challenge was to enhance that energy without breaking it.

My goal with this reversion was to create something that felt more adapted to the dance floor, firm and direct but without invading the ear. I wanted it to keep that emotion, that feeling that makes you close your eyes on the dance floor, but with a progression designed to keep you moving.

It's a true honor for me to remix Doriaan, Diego Hernan, and Milton Bo again. This is our second remix together, which is very special to me, especially since the first one was supported by Hernán Cattáneo and Nick Warren, which gave our work immense meaning. I love being on the Droid9 South America label; their vision and support are a reflection of what I look for in music.

I hope this remix takes you on a journey where strength meets emotion, in a balance crafted for the dance floor.

Dru’s last so well received output on his homebase JEUDI records was “Savannah” and “Praerie”. A contribution to the endless wilderness of the african and american grass fields.

This year he was reflecting about the joy of existence and what might be the slowest way to travel Egypt. Which curiously lead to the steadily developing funkyish stomper “Mind Parade”. 
It’s ever evolving 5th line synth and poetry philosophising about joy leads into a dense, feverish drop built to shake your existence. This tune is touching the peak time with pure but sublte power.

“Egypt Express” is the romantic imagination of travelling Egypt. A pulsating sequence is carrying you through the journey. Maybe at the camp for the night you took a drag of this pipe and the synth sequence suddenly turns into a psychodelic adventure. But no reason to worry; the pulse is keeping it together and is turning your trip into a ride of joy.

Venetian DJ, producer and co-label-founder Olderic has implemented a trademark sound of his own over the past decade. Having released on renowned labels such as Connaisseur Recordings, Compost Records or Siamese the passionate artist raised the bar for up and coming music that is penned by himself. Not only does Enrico, how close friends call him, work solo when it comes to productions but appreciates his 'Stereocalypse' project with Andrea Doria. According to Enrico, he will strongly focus on the aforementioned project in the future and take a break as 'Olderic', so his reinterpretation of Anton Dhouran's 'The Myth of Tarae' will be the last release under Enrico's Olderic moniker in a while. The artist's invitation for a last dance or 'The Myth of Tarae (Olderic Edition)' is built around a vibrant bass line that leaves space for vocals which are drawn on the track's introductory phase. In the following Olderic adds vigorous synth-sounds highlighting the vocal's magic to create a mutual relationship between soundscapes and singing. Additionally further percussive elements are integrated in the overall soundscape emphasizing an enduring psychedelic effect throughout the track.

ATL017 - Thodoris Triantafillou - Scorn

Paul Hazendonk is back on his own Manual Music label for the second installment of his Signature Series trilogy.

The Dutch industry veteran, who in his career has released music on labels such as Sudbeat, Diynamic, Hope Recordings, SOSO, Einmusika, BluFin and many other great labels, always brings something unique to the table, not being limited to one of the many subgenres that are currently out there. A trademark feature he once again proves with these two fresh new cuts.

He kick things off with the emotive and moving 'Every Moment Matters'. A dreamy melodic track build on a solid ground layer of what's best described as a minimalistic, percussive and funky as hell techno arrangement.

Like with the first Signature release a couple of months ago, the second song on the single, titled 'XOS' in this case, is a bit more of a straight forward affair. Build around a mysterious and distorted melody arrangement, this track quickly evolves into a peak time dance floor burner.

Two classy piece of electronic goodness here which will already make you look forward to the third- and final Signature Series release which is scheduled for later this year.

Welcome to a new kid on the block! Not. Klang Allianz is more grown up than ever on this EP with three carefully crafted tracks and a pumping remix by Ander. Faulty Operation sucks you in and whirls you around in gentle gravity, still pressing on with determination. Friend request has references to outlandish percussions and atmospheres, not closer than Saturn. Still, it drives you home without any detours. Stripped Down label boss Claudio Ricci returns to his own label with a fresh new single that comes with superb remixes from Uner, Brigado Crew and Makossa & Megablast.

His original here is ‘Yano’, a perfectly paced track with loose, jumbled percussion. Dark, broad and sweeping chords bring tension and menace to the grooves, but a soulful vocal cry off in the distance means it also has real heart. A tribal track that is designed to unite the floor, it’s a perfect later summer anthem in the making.

The 'Original Mix' of "Ekata" by Framewerk was a massive hit played throughout the winter. With it's overall summery feel we decided to get in some remixes and give it a new lease of life in the warmer months.
First up on remix duties is Eleven Sins who creates a full on club offering. Here he lets all the elements shine through - a unique percussive bass provides the drive; layers of vocal chants and warm strings add the euphoria.
Opening tracks are not easy to come by but with Kandar's take on Ekata he has provided the perfect set starter (or closer) to any worthwhile progressive house set.
Last but not least, Shunus shows off his production prowess with some superbly crafted percussion. Adding a rich warm bass and clever use of the vocal his mix is not to be missed.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience.
