microcastle begins 2020 by welcoming Cornucopia back to the label for a new EP. The mysterious artist makes a much-anticipated follow-up to the July 2018 release ‘Forever Gone’. The three-track offering saw a wide spectrum of play and support from some of the underground’s top tastemakers in Adam Port, Ame, Baikal, Dixon, Frankey & Sandrino, Guy J, Jimi Jools, Laurent Garnier, Luca Bacchetti, Patrice Baumel and Solomun. With a release on Multinotes to highlight 2019, Cornucopia now lands back on microcastle with ‘River of Memories’ to begin the new year.

Elusive and organic in equal measure, the transcendent nature of Cornucopia has the rare ability to unite a cross section of music lovers. The romantic sounds of ‘River of Memories’ sits as perhaps the most apt illustration, invoking a rare combination of hope, heartache, reflection and meditation across it’s eleven-minute storyboard. Shrouded in mystery for nearly three years after countless live airings, it’s the pensive nature of ‘Holding You Tight When The World Collapses’ that follows. Rich in tone and texture, there is also a keen emphasis on rhythm and groove, as exotic drums and low-slung basslines marry fragmented melodies and wispy atmospherics, creating just the right balance of tension and emotion before melting down into the timeless sensibilities and metallic clusters of the EPs closer ‘Orion’. Classy and refined, it rounds out another elusive chapter in Cornucopia’s unique musical history, continuing the artist’s love for intriguing melodic concepts, while already finding a place in the playlists of the worlds most astute DJs.

For its second release of 2018, microcastle welcomes the mysterious Cornucopia project back to the label for a new EP. The publicity shy artist first appeared in May of 2016 when 'The Day You Got Older And Stronger' was released courtesy of Gorje Hewek & Izhevski's Shanti Moscow Radio. Shortly thereafter came his microcastle debut with 'Pursuit of the Orange Butterfly'. A lo-fi, organic and deeply musical creation that the underground fell in love with. 

2017 was met with just one release, 'Letter For Poly' which launched Lee Burridge's new Tale & Tone imprint. Sitting at #1 in Beatport's overall Top 100 the track was also aired on BBC Radio 1 by Kolsch and by year's end was considered one of 2017's best deep house tracks. Now returning to the comfortable home of microcastle, Cornucopia presents his much anticipated 'Forever Gone' artist showcase.

Spread across three tracks, ‘Forever Gone’ is a transcendent blend of music and nature, an organic methodology which Cornucopia seems so apt at crafting. Beginning with the evolving textures, exotic drums and tonal creativities of the title cut, the EP then shifts energy to the modular intensity and oriental themes of ‘Big Sky’, before ultimately melting down to the tranquil, meditative yet spiritually uplifting expedition that is ‘Epathia’. 

For those who believe that music can affect people on a deeper, universal, emotional level, this is music to treasure. This is music to hold close to your heart.

Exclusive Cornucopia - Orion

Cornucopia returns to microCastle for the third time and starts 2020 for the Canadian based label. His latest contribution to the label is Rivers of Memories, a three tracker, which does as its title suggests, it flows down the dance floor avenue. The EP's closer Orion is no exception and probably delivers the most decent yet classy chord arrangement to create an intriguing piece of music, which stays-plays with people's emotions for as long as it lasts and beyond. A lush bassline as well as flickering partly implemented background sounds add Orion even more character as the track's second part of the 8:22 minutes is enriched with icy chord passages that tickle the listener like sharp icicles.

Cornucopia's EP River of Memories will be released on microCastle on March 6th, 2020.

'Clubsonica Records begins 2021 by welcoming Antrim back to the label for a new single. The Cordoba resident and Or Two Strangers boss continues to be a favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while laying claim to releases on Sudbeat Music and Hope Recordings. A prolific 2020 saw Antrim collaborate with fellow progressive music stars Interaxxis and Alex O’Rion, for releases on Cid Inc’s Replug Records and Roger Martinez’s Higher States, along with a solo outing for Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records and his chart topping Or Two Strangers vehicle ‘Black Night’. Now starting the new year in style, Antrim returns to Clubsonica with ‘Hoffnung’, alongside remixes from Shai T and Rauschhaus.

Although best known for his progressive minded productions, Antrim often finds himself in the creative space between organic and progressive house. Such is the case with ‘Hoffnung’ which plays out over seven enchanting minutes. A narrative of warm swells and choir-like pads layer voluptuous bass lines and organic drums. Acting as a thematic core, the centrepiece showcases fluttery synth concepts; charming in design while moving fluidly across a radiant underbelly, as wispy effects and a rush of drums smoothly segues into a heavenly finale.

The first interpretation of ‘Hoffnung’ is provided by Shai T who makes his label debut. The Israeli artist has been riding a wave of success through the landscape of organic house. From his Tel Aviv studio, Shai’s exquisite musical creations have found a home on the genre’s most esteemed imprints, such as All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Do Not Sit On The Furniture, Lost Miracle and TRYBESof. Now as a regular in the Organic House Beatport Top 10, Shai makes his much anticipated Clubsonica debut with a gorgeous take on ‘Hoffnung’. Always a creative remixer, the Israeli artist expands on the emotive qualities of the original with a truly breathtaking production. Full, warm and undeniably organic; its buoyant low end, airy vocal phrasing and exotic percussion work in perfect sonic unison. An expansive centrepiece is highlighted by aquatic cascades and soaring strings, tastefully elevating mood with their elegant musicality, as the groove drops for a blissful final movement.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Hoffnung is provided by Rauschhaus who makes his label debut. The German producer has been a highly regarded figure of the melodic house underground for the last two years, having showcased his music on Beatfreak Recordings, Eleatics Records, Einmusika, Timeless Moment and Stil Vor Talent. Now making a welcome debut on Clubsonica, Rauschhaus rounds out the release with a powerful rendition of ‘Hoffnung’. The groove gets reworked into something a bit chunkier while a complement of tranquil arps, misty atmospheres and detailed percussion fill in the framework. Musically less pronounced, the German artist opts for a sleeker yet equally powerful approach, building tension subtly across the final break though luminous sonics and timely modulation, before smoothly segueing into an uplifting finale. Groovy and emotive in equal measure it not only makes for an auspicious label debut for Rauschhaus, but caps off a stunning first release of the year for Clubsonica.'

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'.
