Twirl returns with a luscious offering from Barcelona’s nightlife stalwart Baldo, featuring the inimitable (and Twirl staple) Josh Caffe. The duo pair up for ‘Mind Games’, a classic Chicago style house burner reminiscent of the great Finger’s, Inc. 

The Original Mix of ‘Mind Games’ whirls and enraptures with its smooth percussive elements, slick pads, and well-paced arrangement. Caffe’s lush vocals heighten the seduction as he weaves nimbly around the track with his sultry timbre. 

The Breaks Version ventures into the mystique of the rave, adding more muscular drums and bringing the beefy bassline to the forefront. Caffe’s vocals still hold firmly in the center, winding flirtatiously around the pumping track. If the Original Mix is suitable to bring you into the night, the Breaks Version is perfect for diving further into its depths. 

Longtime Twirl family member Hannah Holland flips the track into a pulsating banger for her remix. With chopped up vocals, a driving acid bassline, jackin’ percussion, and twisted pads from the Original Mix, Holland creates a monster of a track that deftly straddles the line between house and techno. 

Industry veteran The Checkup rounds out the package with his energetic, house stomper of a remix. Caffe’s vocals are highlighted, adding a punchier, stuttering kick, extrapolated synth pads and stabbing, moody organ. It is a delightful turn that’s sure to ignite the finest of dancefloors.

After becoming a revered fixture on the Berlin club calendar over the past two years, Mango is now launching as a label. As part of the launch, Mango’s founder and curator, Bill Mango, is releasing his debut EP to whet the appetite of listeners. Littered with dulcet tones and grooves, the aptly named "Sun, Sea and XTC EP" oscillates between a strong sense of revelry and a tinge of regret. This five-track offering serves to gloriously remind us of what once was, but with a cancelled summer this year, painstakingly reminds us of what could have been.

Exclusive: Mental Overdrive - Day (Prins Thomas Mix)

Norwegian record label Full Pupp turns 15 years old and for that occasion invites friends and musical companions to contribute one track each, with the results being released on several various artists EPs. The second part of the birthday festivities is close and therwith comes another four tracks on Full Pupp by Telephones, Marius Vareid, Christian Engh and Prins Thomas' mix for Mental Overdrive. The latter is one of Norway's  most important figures in (electronic) dance music and was integral in laying the foundations the country's now blossoming scene during the late 1980s and early 90s. So with Prins Thomas taking on his track Day, whose parts “were most likely recorded during the northern Norwegian summmer and the shutters couldn't keep the sunlight out.“ And that's where Day takes the listener – warm and windy pads swirl the listener not only through the deepness of the track with its intriguing pads and the bleepy notes, but through the vastness and beauty of the country and its natural spectacles, as Day is this laidback spectacle itself.

Full Pupp 15 Years Part 2 will be released on July 10th, 2020.

Everyone likes a little drama at times and this one comes in three acts. London based artist duo Super Drama is about to release the first part of their Family Drama series, which comes altogether with five tracks from Cheriii, Jaye Ward, Angel D'lite, the duo itself and Hannah Holland. The latter delivers the deepest musical approach on the various artists EP with her take People Power, which seemingly is a homage to the early Chicago House days and contains a message that's as relevant as the current world events: no person is illegal. Provided with a percussion infuenced bass line, the aforementioned deep note of People Power highlights the message, namely that of resisting anywhere and everywhere if people doubt and deny the legality of a human being. Hannah Holland delivers a mixture of various chords that are smoothly integrated into the track's corpus; that are responsible to emphasize or keep the groove and transports people's powers elegantly and intriguing through the five minutes of the track.

Volume four of Cinthie's infamous 803 Crystal Groove Collective Cuts is about to drop and contains four (deep) House tracks from four different artists. While Asquith, who provides Souls (Deep Mix) to the package, the fourth edition of 803 Crystal Groove Collective Cuts introduces listeners to three new acts, namely Manuold, UC Beatz and Yard One. The latter are UK producers Jordan Bruce and Larry Jones, while Jones hails from Manchester, Jordan is currently based in Den Haag. For their contribution to the V/A they readied Disjoint, a take that combines both: an inevitable groove and classy deep chord sequences. Both, the dynamic drum workout with gritty bass hits and the rather bright melodic synths create an overal intriguing piece of music that soaks the listener not only into his vibe but onto the floors to let oneself go and dwell in the beauty of this deeply hitting melody.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
