Valencia's Nacho Marco has an incredibly impressive back catalogue, with releases on brilliant labels including Freerange, Plastic City, Lazy Days, Ovum, We Play House and his own excellent Loudeast imprint too. Now added to the list is the irrepressible Chiwax, with his “The 909 Files" EP. 

Each track is simply titled 'File 1' through to “File 4“, so let's kick things off in the usual order. "File 1“ is a powerhouse of percussion and keys, with an almost Reese-esque bassline rumbling underneath. The weight of the kicks and the metronomic rattle of the rimshots thunders the track along, making this a very impressive opener. 

“File 2" slows the BPM down a few notches, the drums are again super-heavy (being from the 909, as the EP title gives away), but this time the keys take a softer approach, with glorious floating pads underpinning the mellow mood here. A wonderfully woozy closer to the A-side. 

Flipping over for “File 3“ on the B-side, the 909 is joined by our old friend the M1 bassline, with clipped vox parts adding to the energy pulsing through the track. Swinging along in a fashion reminiscent of classics such as  Kerri Chandler et'al, this is a superb straight-up warm house jam. 

Rounding the EP off, “File 4’"is built around a stabby church organ riff which nags away throughout the track, the punchy percussion and tinkling chords coming together in a swirl of joyous depth for the dancefloor. The bassline chugs away with its neat bounce, echoing the thump of the unmistakable 909 kicks, closing the EP off in the style it maintains throughout, namely exquisite dancefloor-driven house music which has a real timeless quality.

Manakinz are Scottish duo James ‘Harri’ Harrigan and Max Raskin. One part synonymous with the monumental Sub Club and his Subculture residency going strong for 30 years, and one of Glasgow’s best kept secrets, Max Raskin, formerly of the Liquid Lounge and Sunday Circus. Initially Harri & Max were just sending out tracks to friends in the know, but when Andrew Weatherall picked up the blower to say he was loving what they were doing, they upped the ante and have since been putting out on Let’s Play House, Future Boogie, Monologues, Refuge and Mitchell Street. Exclusive Jepe 'Gamma'

The name Frau Blau, the German translation for Miss Blue, first appeared in the scene when Dixon dropped the legendary eponymous track by Kadosh & Yost Koen at Sonar 2018. After the track had been released as part of Innervisions' Secret Weapons compilation, Kadosh stuck with the name as it aptly represents what the artist enjoys about music and language – the depth of the blue in music and the sound of the spoken words together - and made use of it to name his label, which he runs with Omri Guetta, after the track. With three releases on the label so far, Frau Blau readies its fourth catalogue number, which comes from Berlin based Portuguese producer Jepe and goes by the Greek letter of Δ, Delta, and since it is the fourth letter of the alphabet the EP has the same amount of tracks, namely two originals, 'Delta' and 'Gamma', both provided with one remix for each by Alican and Elias. Γ, Greek for Gamma, is a catchy yet edgy composition that twists and twirls the sounds over a galloping bass line and displays elements of 80s synths that find its way to the track in-between those crunchy and spooky sound sequences that make 'the track a futuristic and aesthetic experience through time and space.
