Tulioxi is one of the new great personalities of the Italian Nu Disco Scene. He Has published at least thirtyworks, among EP's, singles and collaborations with other artists.

Tulioxi has established himself as one of the most interesting talents of the new Italian Disco Scene for thelast 10 years. His Works are well respected amid the international community of Indie Disco Artists and hisname has been circulating into the inner circle of DJs and producers from all over the world.

For the last decade, his released music shows how creative and prolific he is, keeping his productions at avery high level in terms of originality and experimentation, and his search for a personal sound isconfirmed in every new work.

He is one of the masterminds behind Cosmic Sumo Recordings and one of the developers of MEFF, theannual Modular synthesizer Exhibition Fair in Florence, tied to the brand Tiptop Audio, one of the mostpopular synth module manufacturers in Eurorack format.

Video Self-Delight is a great piece of work composed by 2 original tracks - Video Self Delight and ZorkanMachine - and 2 remixes by Günce Aci from Turkey and Stockholm Youth (Stockholm Syndrome and Tronik Youth) from UK and Australia.

Captain Mustache is at the vanguard of Paris’ electro new school. Riding on a wave of incredible form, he counts to his name a collaboration with Daft Punk-affiliate Play Paul on KOMPAKT to his name, a collab with Chicks On Speed on Permanent Vacation, an EP for Helena Hauff’s Return To Disorder label, an album on Bedrock and an outing on Les Yeux Orange with remixes from electro gods DMX Krew and Legowelt. Defining his sound as ‘romantic and burlesque’, he takes his cues from electroclash, ‘80s electro and synth pop and Detroit techno.

Classic drum sounds form the crux of ‘Monkey Brains’, a hypnotic tom rhythm throbbing away amidst punchy claps and crisp claps. A buzzing synth bores a tunnel through the centre of the groove as Ulysses’ twisted vocal stylings enter the fray and echoing stutters permeate the depths of the track. Subtle arpeggios add colour as bright lead blasts cut through the mix. Each element is carefully positioned and utilised efficiently, the track building slowly to a beautiful intensity before stripping right back down again. And so it goes back and forth, undulating between rapture and darkly-tinged introspection.

Previously enlisting the likes of Adamski, Dave Clarke, Paris The Black Fu, The Advent and Keith Tucker to provide vocals on his tracks, Captain Mustache finds perfect company in New York’s Ulysses. Part of Neurotic Drum Band with John Selway, he has previously released acclaimed output on Prins Thomas’ label Internasjonal. Bearfunk, Lasergun, Guidance Recordings and Throne Of Blood.

Marc Martinez Nadal, aka AFFKT, consecrated a music career and has been a driving force behind a vivid and empowering sound that is refined by his drive for perfection. He feels in deeply in communion with sounds that range from the most energetic hyper-glossy techno to the most detailed and innovative indie-electronica. Having worked on coining the sound of this alias since 2008, it has been a plethora of sounds, places, persons and cultures that has provided a platform for AFFKT to experiment with his output. He serves huge electronic crossover masterpieces that derive into the many sub-genres of music via key imprints such as Pets recordings, Multinotes, Mobilee, Last Night On Earth, Disco Halal, Needwant, Exploited or Culprit and his very own Sincopat label. "Corcho" is a strong incantation of the artist's early influences in electronic music. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, with so much dynamic range that it keeps the listeners on their toes from beginning to end. The track lets us travel to the dancefloor with intense sound design to create a high-energy. Overall, it's an impressive piece of work that shows AFFKT's range and skills.
Meanwhile, "Spider Charmer" is a crossover track that blends different styles and influences to create something truly unique. It's a futuristic piece of music that feels both fresh and timeless, and it's sure to leave listeners speechless. The main organic lead bass is hypnotizing, drawing the listeners in and holding their attention throughout the entire track. Let’s rave or die!
And last but not least, the duo Kimshies, who is a regular of the Dust & Blood family, closes this chapter with an epic remix of "Corcho", another standout track, an inimitable interpretation of the original that creates a deep and memorable musical experience and takes the listeners on a sonic adventure. When reaching the heart of darkness alley and staring into the bassbins, feeling the low frequency soundwaves pounding rhythmically into the chest, there is only one thing you can do and that is to allow the kick drum to carry you away, it doesn't even matter where.
Alvaro Cabana takes control here and made an epic, otherworldly electro-acid beast which kicks hard and deliberate, hi hats that slice like switchblades and attack laden bleeps that bite hard into your cranium. This one builds and builds and builds peaks but somehow remains cool, synth-esque stabs, congas and toms decorate it like sugarskulls with pads on the breakdown wonky synths and heavy distorted appregio just before the drop kicks in. Six and a half minutes of an epic stomper which will surely carry you away. Just remember, you're safe in the dark alley, for now.

Known for their original works like He Not In, Andy Meecham and Dean Meredith, Chicken Lips' real names, have also made a name by themselves with remix works for scene heavyweights like Simian Mobile Disco or Tiga in the past. Now the influental duo turns Apache Nights into a nine minute lasting discoid housey electronica piece of music that portrays everything Chicken Lips have ever stood for: musical sexiness with just the right dose of raw- and edginess, or malfunction in their words, enriched with catchy synth-lines that works on the floor and around at the same time.

Exclusive: Motel77 - Three On The Floor (Sascha Funke Remix)

Berliner Sascha Funke is back from a temporary vacation and his Genex EPs on Permanent Vacation to release a remix for Motel77's track Three On The Floor on Mexican label Duro. Funke's approach takes the listener back in time, to an episode of the 2000s when dark synth chords paired with an extraordinary groovey bass line, vocal snippets and a darkly twisted vibe used to be key on Steve Bugs' Poker Flat label. A sound that resembled the internationality of the Berlin club- and subculture, a sound that lashed the audience through PacMan-ish club levels, a sound that was as drippingly wet as the sweat off the wall, a sound that was as creepy as the Freaks could get, a sound that now is re-touched, re-designed and relived by Sascha Funke. Aside from the latter characteristics Funke keeps his work hypnotic by layering various bleepy tones creating this kind-of-cool track with a technoid vibe that you are dying to hear in a club played out.

Motel77's EP Savage will be released on Duro on August 28th, 2020.

Berlin-East Frisian Heindenreich, also known as one half of Leggings, a slow Indie-Dance formation with his partner in crime DJ Cremant, challenges Francophile vocalist ANGST vor GRETA for his Je Palpite EP on Dutch label Sinchi Collective. Beside the original version of Je Palpite, the track comes with remixes from Calypso head honcho Thomas Jackson and Robert Johnson mainstay Chinaski, who finally delivers new material after his collaboration with Curses on Dischi Autunno earlier this year. As expected and as fresh as a tropical fruit Chinaski squeezes the Disco-ish note out of Heidenreich's original and exchanges it with more progressive and heavily hitting electroid essences that turn his version of Je Palpite to a kiwano, an exotic warm composition with an edgy and raw musical backbone.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
