Hot on the heels of his acclaimed debut, The ‘Clubber’s Paradise’ EP for Ghost Recs, DJ Pipe @deejay-pipe launches his own Global North imprint with another varied and dynamic four-tracker for your turntable.

“Sunrise Fiction” sets the tone for the EP, with Pipe employing his signature sound-palette of tumbling congas, chunky sub bass and FM synth chimes. A2’s “Fragile Transit” may be familiar to listeners of a certain recent Truly Madly mix - house organs and filtered sax ascend into orbit before being washed away by blissed-out stabs. Properly versatile gear for the warm-up, main slot or crack-on.

Over on the flip, “Gallery Showcase” takes things darker via maximum bass-weight, whispered vocal snatches and abundance of swing, while “Touchstone (Alright)” rounds out the EP in atmospheric fashion with shimmering strings, echoed finger-snaps and its cascading main riff: a late-night odyssey into the deepest realms of house.

Mr. Jones, also known as Brian Topham, is back with the second installment on his label Top Rhythm Boppers, simply called Volume 2, a musical conglomeration of four different moods and therefore four different approaches to music itself. Musically the EP, of course, draws on Papolious Jones' first five tracker just that this time the Barcelona-based artist stimulates the body, mind and soul with some musical funk(iness). The EP starts with We're The OGs (Original Ghosts), which not only comes in with a lush and seemingly groovey bass line but has, as the track title already reveals, haunting chord-sequences that evoke a spooky yet mysterious atmosphere. Bleepy chords as well as slight percussive elements in the background respectively in the low frequencies serve as the harmonic counterpart and add a certain warmth to the track, so that We're The OGs is the soundtrack to a dark vault rave.

Papolious Jones' EP Volume 2 will be released on Top Rhythm Boppers.

After the undoubted success of Mui Mui Records’ (pronounced Moy Moy) first release which presented original music from Bernard that also came complete with rerubs from Silverlining and Harry Wills. With the name for the label being an ode to founder E.Alexander’s daughter and her mixed British Chinese and Scottish upbringing its meaning is derived from the phrase “little girl” in Cantonese. It is clear from speaking with Ewan that a lot of care and attention goes into every facet of the label and it really shows in the music.

Well, Mui Mui are back for round two and again they come correct with the freshest house cuts courtesy of American artist John Manhard. This time around Mui Mui have opted to give their chosen artist the full run of the EP to showcase his sound and the result is four blissful originals that manage to combine a number of influences. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.
