Fresh from an inspiring and productive trip to Kingston, Dre Skull returns with a new riddim release for the summer. Stepping in at 109bpm, Blacklight Riddim is the perfect collision of Brooklyn and Kingston, a Mixpak mission statement with four of dancehall’s finest: QQ, Spice, Konshens and Tifa. Drawing from dembow, the Caribbean super-loop with an origin story that spans from Kingston to New York in the early 90s, the riddim brings the energetic kick-snare combination to play with gurning rave synths for anthemic party status. Inspired by the energy in the music, all four vocalists take the opportunity to channel raw sexuality, whether it’s Tifa’s search for a stamina daddy, Konshen’s wining song, QQ’s gallis antics or Spice’s classic hard-line sensuality.

Recorded in Kingston, and mixed in Mixpak’s new Brooklyn studios by King Jammy protege Suku (of Ward 21), Blacklight Riddim keeps the JA/BK vibes strong and the summer juggling hot.

Dengue Dengue Dengue (@Dengue) have an enviable ability to whisk together the traditional and electronic. Their debut LP La Alianza Profana was a stellar example of just that - a cumbia-cum-electronica joyride dip-dyed in all the right amounts of psychedelia and mystique. 2014's follow up project, Serpiente Dorada EP was no less of a trip. And now with July 2015 here, the Peruvian pair are providing a sneak peek at their next move. "Murdah" is four minutes of footwork-paced hysteria that showcases a step up in tempo. Unrelenting drum pounds, a percussive tribal backbone and rapid-fire vocal chops become locked in an aural bull-fight that's both infectious and dancefloor-ready.

SECURITY is the ambitious new mixtape from London-based artist
GAIKA. Born out of his travels through the many global currents of
contemporary London, his music is dark yet melodic, experimental yet
catchy. While drawing strongly from his Brixton upbringing and his
Jamaican and Grenadian heritage, GAIKA's sound is ultimately expansive,
seamlessly weaving musical motifs, vocal flows and slangs of UK, US and
Caribbean music.

As a lyricist, GAIKA shares stories encompassing criminal braggadocio
and inflated self-worth, desire, and heartfelt tales of grief and lost love, all
re-imagined through a sonic minimalism that dissolves into abstract and
dreamlike proportions. At the heart of SECURITY is GAIKA's exploration
of our pervasive fear of death. He believes it is this fear which ultimately
provokes insecurity, driving our desire for romantic love and material
goods.

As both a vocalist and producer, GAIKA is as uncompromising in his
politics as his sonics, intent on expanding and exploding the ideas of what
contemporary black British music is. Channeling the unique synthesis of
London’s musical make-up, and featuring a number of exciting guest
vocalists with a sympathetic ethos, GAIKA’s mixtape places him firmly at
the forefront of a new London.

DJ Shadow, widely acknowledged as a crucial figure in the development of experimental, instrumental hip-hop, has returned with ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ via Mass Appeal Records [and Believe Digital in France], his first full length release since 2011. The 12-track album finds DJ Shadow exploring new realms in addition to the deep samples and kinetic soundscapes that helped to launch his career 20 years ago. On ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ he’s shifted further toward original composition, a vast experimentation of beats and textures, synthesizers and live instruments including horns and woodwinds. Aus Music celebrates its tenth birthday this year, as well as its landmark release number 100 – fittingly enough. Will Saul‘s imprint has spent the last decade lovingly building its reputation as one of the most trusted and respected labels for dance music the UK, and quite possibly worldwide too. Joy Orbison’s So Derobe, Ramadanman’s Void 23, George Fitzgerald‘s Child, Leon Vynehall‘s Brother, Bicep‘s Just – it’s likely that Aus Music has soundtracked your most memorable and significant club moments.

To mark two milestones in Aus history, the label presents a 24-track quadruple vinyl/triple CD/vast digital compilation set to drop this summer. Composed of entirely new and exclusive tracks, the compilation is built up by key members from the Aus family as well as boss Mr. Saul himself – Bicep, Midland, Huxley, Deetron, Nick Höppner, Pearson Sound, Youandewan, Marquis Hawkes, Gerd, Sei A, Bwana, Fold, Shenoda, Appleblim and Komon.

It’s our honour to be hosting a five-part Debut series in conjunction with Aus Music, consisting of one Debut a week for five weeks running up to the release date; as well as a very special Boiler Room x AUS100 takeover in London. Joining the celebrations will be Nick Höppner, Marquis Hawkes, Will Saul and a secret guest to be announced the day before.



First up in our Debut series is from the unstoppable dual force of Bicep and Hammer. Fresh from last year’s EP collab Dahlia, Belfast’s tour de force bring it back home with “ARACARI” – a sentimental banger following in the same footsteps as their previous teamwork, and purpose-built for all 4am dancefloors around the world.
