Fearbace - Fingertips

Akuratyde made his debut on BMTM with 2015’s reverb soaked Embrace EP, a love letter to the heyday of autonomic and an introspective work focused on the musician’s life and personal struggles. After enduring a series of family losses Akuratyde returned to the label in 2018 with his emotional debut album, Past Lives, a heartfelt body of work created around the narrative thread of love and loss. He followed this up shortly after with his third release on BMTM, 2019’s One Hundred Steps EP, which saw Akuratyde collaborating with Russian minimal drum & bass pioneer Bop.

2020 saw the artist carving out his own path, unleashing his dark jungle & techno alias Vex Seven and debuting the 3VS collective. He also founded his Modern Conveniences imprint, with music by autonomic godfather Kid Drama and BMTM favorite RQ. Additionally, he teamed up with fellow producer Monika to create the dancefloor-focused Monika & Akuratyde project with releases on Fokuz Recordings and Soulvent Records. In 2021 he returns to BMTM with his second album, Home Movies, a melancholy reflection on his younger years and a comment on modern culture's obsession with surface and gratification.

'Home Movies' sees Akuratyde pushing his songwriting further than before, collaborating with vocalists for the first time as a solo artist and with an increased focus on his trademark dreamy synthesizer melodies, subtle guitar stylings, and glitched-out rhythms.

First discovered via SoundCloud, Philip George is the 21 year old British house DJ/producer who’s just been signed to leading independent label 3 Beat for the world, with his debut single, ‘Wish You Were Mine’, set for release in the US via a partnership deal with Motown (with Stevie Wonder’s blessing).

Currently playlisted at Radio 1, Kiss, Capital and beyond, ‘Wish You Were Mine’, is tipped to be the first UK No.1 of 2015, based on pre-order figures, Shazam data (No.1 on both the UK Top 100 and the Future Hits charts), over 1 million SoundCloud plays (currently hitting 80,000 plays per day) and over 1 million YouTube views.

Philip is part of the ‘SoundCloud generation’ of new artists who are discovered online and achieve global recognition within weeks. Hailing from Nottingham, he’s been obsessed by music since the age of 7, when he first learnt to play the piano and drums – a musical grounding that you can hear throughout his productions.

Like many, Philip’s love of house music stems from his first visit to Ibiza. An ‘epiphany’-filled trip with parties at DC10, Sankeys, Space and Amnesia, that, he says, “changed my life”. He returned home, stopped making drum & bass, and began making house to play in his DJ sets.

‘Wish You Were Mine’ cleverly uses a familiar vocal from Stevie Wonder – ‘My Cherie Amour’. Combined with Philip’s house bassline and melodies, the track immediately became popular, and quickly took on a life of its own via his SoundCloud, blogs and tastemaker YouTube channels. 

3 Beat (home to Sigma, Fuse ODG, Stylo G), have signed George for the world, with a partnership deal for the single in North America via legendary label, Motown. The US interest came about after the label and Stevie Wonder became aware of ‘Wish You Were Mine’, subsequently gave him their mutual blessing, and have now offered him the keys to the Motown vaults for future productions.

Now with major support from traditional media, and a rapidly filling DJ schedule that includes a Blackpool Rocks show alongside Duke Dumont, MistaJam, Danny Howard, and Hannah Wants on 20 December, Philip George is set to become one of 2015’s biggest electronic music stars.

Taken from 'Kasar Remixed', Robot Koch's sombre dub enthused reimagining of 'Gone' is one of 5 tracks from Kasar's 2014 album 'Walk On' that have been reworked for the remix album, each cut seeing a Sonar Kollektiv affiliated artist charged with delivering a vastly different take on the original works whilst retaining some of their character.

Also a supremely technically gifted sound technician, Alex creates music for film and television and could never be accused of lacking excitement. Amplifying his skills on every level, he retains the essence of emotional communication that makes his work so engaging.

“People really feel like they’ve got an emotional connection to it,” he says. “I feel like every track that I write has to resonate with me on an emotional level. If I’m not connecting with it, and it’s not evoking some kind of feeling in me then why should I expect the listener to feel that too? As we’re all made of the same kind of stuff as it’s resonating with me then hopefully it’s going resonate with other people who are listening to it as well.”

Following his second studio album, Beneath the Surface, this past Nov.12th saw Alex pilot a cataclysm of new abrasive sounds with his EP ‘Tephra’, released on Max Cooper’s Mesh imprint. The ideas emerged from two months in the rugged, black volcanic surroundings of the Canary Islands, Spain. Banks armed himself with a restricted set of equipment taken from his studio in Brighton and set about focusing on the core of his musical expression. The change of scenery brought a different intensity to Banks' sound, one that impressively finds a line between home listening and club-focused dance-floor bombs....much like today's premiere.

We’ve been working on FKOFv005 for what feels like years. It started as a solo outing for one of our longest-serving FKOF fam members, it then morphed into a b2b remix release, it then went back to somewhere in-between...

Our next record release features FKOF fam (from way back on FKOFd002) @subreachers and @congi-music (for the first time ever on FKOF Records).

“Our latest physical release paints an epic picture, one defined by broad strokes that demonstrate the diverse range of sounds that Matt at Subreachers is capable of creating. We start with ‘Ceres’. It’s an articulated vibe, one that jitters across a low-key but supportive sub. It’s a groove you need to experience to fully understand. Next up, ‘Zaytoven’ steps up on the A2 with a slightly steppier take on the Subreachers sound. This one’s all dub sirens and punchy percussion, a meditative roller that’s built for the big sound and dark rooms.
