An artist who will need little introduction amongst our seasoned followers, Bogotá producer Felipe Gordon is back with his seventh label release. Natural Born Climber EP sees Gordon continue in the same jazz-inflected vein as his previous EP, boasting his talent as a multi-instrumentalist and dexterity in combining textures to make an infectious whole.

The EP starts as it means to go on. ‘The Love’ cruises along an irresistible groove, oozing sex appeal and at times tickling the ears with a classy jazz piano. ‘Da Ghent Life’ is about funk. A bass guitar meanders beneath skippy percussion before giving way to a soul-stroking saxophone breakdown before ‘More Than Grateful’ follows suit, maintaining the uplifting tone. Finally, the title track sees the EP at its most ravey. It’s impossible not to move to ‘Natural Born Climbers’ ’s piano-stab melody and Detroit-inspired vocal chops.

Felipe Gordon comes back to Toy Tonics. The Colombian musician, producer and DJ has been part of the TT label crew since 2017 when he released his debut "Teusaquillo EP". Since then, Felipe has made a huge career. He made a second EP for Toy Tonics (Wait On Me, 2020) he now releases on labels such as Heist Recordings, Kai Alce’s NDATL, Clone Royal Oak, Phonica Records, Shall Not Fade and was featured on Cinthie’s DJ Kicks.

With his third  EP on Toy Tonics, Felipe now takes a next big step in his artistic development.
He's been working for some months now on a new and organic path, a different way of vocal house. He started working with a talented young Colombian singer called “Bob The Egoist” AKA Daniel Pardo. Bob is a young Berklee degree student with a deep and emotional voice, an amazing knowledge about the classic soul and RnB and a clever and enthusiastic way of writing chord progressions, you will hear his name more often than you can imagine in the next coming months.

This new Felipe Gordon EP has a more organic driven feel, and is definitely a vocal house record. With a lot of classic 1990s house feel, but still not sounding retro at all. It has a slight futuristic feel. Besides the great vocal ideas, the tracks are based on amazing chord progressions that remind the jazz-funk music from the early 1970s. Rhodes and clavinets, wah wahs and a nasty, soulful atmosphere. Felipe did some heavenly synth work, creating music with a deep yet funky character - always punchy and analog. Felipe’s production style seems to be exploring new grounds.

The music was recorded in only 2 weeks in December 2021. And probably that’s one of the reasons why these tracks don't sound over-produced. The instant, rolling feel gives the songs its special character.

Felipe has a European DJ tour coming from June till July, so catch him somewhere near your city!

Everyone’s favorite Israeli digger is back for another round of gloriously rare edit heat on RNT! ‘Baila’ gets the party started with infectious flamenco chants and claps over a churning acidic groove, and ‘Disco Hummus’ rounds out the side with a bit of joyful disco cheek. On the flip, ‘Sun’ turns an unlikely cover of a classic into an Afro Disco banger, and ‘Simba’ rumbles and rolls with restraint toward a hypnotic peak of brass and vocals. Elado has done it again…Mazel Tov!

After the chart-topping Keep on Swindling part 1, that included summer anthem ‘All I want’ and the live jazz rework of ‘The break up’ by Emma-Jean Thackray, Dam Swindle are now back with part 2 of their 10-year anniversary series. If you thought the first edition had the goods, you’re in for a treat with this one. Keep on Swindling part 2 includes a new afro-tinged DS original, alongside a never-released remix of an obscure Guadeloupean record and remixes by rising star of the Detroit music scene Ash Lauryn and Rush Hour favorite Arp Frique. To top things off, the boys release their afro-brass dancefloor burner ‘Call of the Wild’ feat. Jungle by Night for the first time on a single.

The Ep closes with a Dam Swindle original for the 2018 album High Life that really needs no introduction: ‘Call of the wild feat. Jungle by Night.’ It’s a track that seems to keep the dancers happy wherever we play it and hasn’t lost any of its appeal in the past four years. York born, Berlin based Soul singer Kosmo Kint. Coeo's Garage version is a heavy booty shaker, quite different from their last release. This is very UK. You can hear that Coeo has been DJing a lot in the UK lately. Of course the other one rmx is a killer remix too .... You get what you know from a Coeo work.

The Kapote remix package also includes a version by Detroit original hero Dez Andres. A sneaky dancefloor slammer that will get a lot of attention and last but not least: UK upcoming talent Tom Jarmey contributed a remix.

They say that there are 64 ways to launch yourself into space – whatever space may be. Perhaps you could soar or fly in a rocket or aeroplane beyond the clouds and into the pearly black abyss beyond. Amsterdam duo Dam Swindle return with new music on their own Heist Recordings. This time they have invited influential powerhouses of dance music to reimagine their material, a track titled ’64 Ways’ which features Mayer Hawthorne.

Nightmares On Wax and Dj Bone have both been enlisted to rework the song, picking it apart and piecing it back together to offer their own respective takes on the vision. Listen to the Nightmares on Wax version below:
