In March of this year we saw Jimpster’s Porchlight And Rocking Chairs LP fall on expectant and eager ears, winning praise from the likes of RA, DJ Mag and Groove as well as plays and support from a host of the worlds best radio and club DJ’s. With the majority of the LP being more home listening than club-focused we decided to call in some of our favorite producers to rework a track of their choice for the dance-floors and here we present you the first part of the amazing results.

KiNK needs little introduction of course, except to say that his live set as well as his hands on hardware approach in the studio has seen him become established as one of the most exciting producers of the last couple of years. When he agreed to remix Porchlight And Rocking Chairs (a track he incidentally referred to as his favorite of the year!) we couldn’t have been happier and knew that something very special would come from it. When he got in touch to say he’d done a version but explained it was done live in one take with all the parts being tweaked in real time making it very hard to change anything we were even more intrigued and excited. As expected, what he delivered is an intense, high energy reworking full of piercing high’s and rattling lows, keeping the original chords and many of the keyboard lines in place but injecting a raw drive and improvised feel which has already seen it become a highlight of Jimpster sets this summer.

Andre Lodemann provides the perfect antidote to KiNK’s frenetic version in the form of his Towards The Seer Remix, going for a tight, emotive, late night groove which develops slowly, teasing out the arrangement and keeping things sublime and understated. Subtle bass twists and dubbed out FX build to the extended break where we’re introduced to the original’s acoustic bass riff in all it’s glory. Another brilliant Andre Lodemann production.

Quickly following up the last, instant sell-out smash, Shir Khan's infamous "Black Jukebox" series hit us with the 12th edition. Introducing anonymous project Aussteiger who gets things bouncing with the Summer house monster, "Bangbao". Lush filter sweeps, twinkling keys and powerful bass are order of the day here as the producer works his magic on one of the sunniest grooves we've heard this year. "Return" keeps that outdoor terrace flavour but plunges us deep into the twilight, tribal drums and deep electronics locking us into its hypnotic recess. Martin Lewis contributes a seriously fun and summery version of "Now That We Found Love", utilizing glorious xylophones and horns throughout the melody and letting it roll out with aplomb. Finally, we get the cheeky "Do It" edit which combines hypnotic congas with funky guitar licks and a sun-burnt, Latin energy to create a sizzling brew of hot dancefloor energy. Great stuff! DFA / Visionquest duo Benoit & Sergio return mid October with some fresh and typically unique new material via Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom Limited imprint.

French artist Benoit & stateside producer Sergio’s collaborative career took a huge leap in 2010 with the release of their anthemic ‘Walk & Talk’ on the Visionquest imprint. Since then the duo have gone on to release via James Murphy’s DFA, Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations, L.A imprint Culprit and now, adding another leading imprint to their affiliations, Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom.

As always from Benoit & Sergio this new single sees the duo offer up something refreshing, unique and undeniably catchy. Across ‘House With 500 Rooms’ subtly progressing, near ten minute duration, the pair scatter an array on deft production techniques throughout with echoing vocal swells, multilayered bass and piano hooks and soaring synth leads running alongside their signature memorable vocal styling’s.

The latter half of the package sees the duo provide a ‘Dub’ take on the original cut solely focusing on the its smooth and hypnotic vibe, while the ‘Radio Edit’ trims things back to the core of the opening composition to shape up the package.

Benoit & Sergio’s ‘House With 500 Rooms’ is out on Leftroom Limited 16th October 2015.

Toy Tonics delivers a surprising new record. A guest appearance from Australian DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Lancelot.

The kid is on the roll: Most recently, Lancelot’s „Mover“ EP on Waze & Odyssey's 'W&O Street Tracks' got the nod from acts like Bicep („impressive and addictive track“), Paul Woolford („Reminds me of Mood II Swing at their dubby best“) and Mr G. He was invited to play at Boiler Room London and toured across the UK, Europe, United States and Asia. 

His new EP for Toy Tonics is a bit different - a three track collection of dense, eccentric house music. Title track `7AM In The Afternoon’ is a journey paying homage to the witching hour. `Again & Again’ plays tug of war with bassline semitones while `Lorikeets` flutters with warm stereo delayed synths.  

Alongside his Toy Tonics release, this summer Lancelot will also be sharing new material and remixes on Freerange, Ninja Tune’s ´Counter` imprint and W&O Street Tracks.

The return of time travelling disco afficionados Space Echo is immanent, and their 3rd contribution to the Luv Shack catalogue is a very special one indeed. The three tracks on the 'Rare Function EP' are boasting with dusty 70s blues magic!

The first track 'Go Down' is somewhat more akin to earlier Space Echo tracks, with a disco loop that steadily builds in the background, funky house drumming and a big beefy bassline. However the gospel vocals and the evolving synth strings in the second break take ' Go Down' to another level of dancefloor goodness.

'Rare Function' sees Space Echo take a moody excursion into southern funk. With an insanely addictive rhodes hook, shimmering strings and a soothing vocal line that hits right in the guts, this piece is well suited to liven up any house set. 

The final track is called 'Rainbow Power' and its probably the most uncanny Space Echo track to date. Its a full on party rendition of a lesser known early 70s funk piece that just blasts off after being introduced to a fat acid line! 

The EP is a testament to the musical development of the Space Echo project and we're excited to hear what the future holds.
