It’s Italian time! Sam Ruffillo is back. Sicilian producer doing smooth Balearic disco with Italian vocals. The direction is clear: Sam Ruffillo's music brings us back into the Italian riviera and the hippy days of Ibiza in the late 1970ies. Even his way of production is similar to how the early days disco producers in Italia used to work: No samples needed. Instead, a few guest musicians come to jam over Sam's beats in his Italian studio space. Guitar, bass, percussion. Sam later makes the production and added keyboard solos and put together the vibes into what is this new EP.

The girl voice comes from NINFA. It’s the classic studio story: NINFA is a singer and DJ and friend of Sam. She was hanging at the studio while Sam was finishing these tracks. She stated to sing along... the words came up spontaneously… so they decided to record her and finally decided to keep them. The vibe was too good. Why talk English if u can do it better: in Italian! :)

This is second for Toy Tonics after his Sport House EP from last year. Sam also appeared on the solo record of Joel Holmes on Toy Tonics. Together with Kapote Modica he co-produced and made the beats on that record. Now Sam is back with this pure Italian EP. Inclusive remixes by new German artists Gome and Italian Musemeci - known to many from his fabulous Italo-trance releases on Diynamic records.

Nathalie Duchene is the new entry on the Toy Tonics rooster. Upcoming DJ and producer talent from Paris with prominent protégées: Yuksek and Boombass of Cassius are the ones who helped her to get introduced to the French scene and to shape the skills as DJ and producer of her own music. Since she came to Paris from Belgium in 2008 at the age of 19 it were these two encouraging her to make music. And by now, after observing the good artists and developing a real obsession (not only) for club music she became a steady member of the new Parisian house scene. She regularly plays in the main Parisian clubs such as the Rex, Silencio and Sacre. And being known for excellent DJ and selector skills able to create deep and colorful musical atmospheres, she also gets often invited to play happenings of brands like Louis Vuitton, Numero Magazine or the off - parties at Cannes Film Festival. 

In fact by now Nathalie has strong connections not only in the growing new French house scene but also to the French movie world. Since living in Paris she wrote a few pieces of music for movies  (and fashion shows) and it looks like there will be more engagements in the future. Nathalie’s music production skills are impressing.

Now, after DJing for a couple of years, spending endless hours in the studio to learn - Nathalie is ready for her own dancefloor EP.  Three sunny electronic tracks, disco, Balearic house vibes that avoid cliches, instead play with atmospheres and vibes that feel familiar and catch you quickly, without being too direct.

It makes total sense to release these on Toy Tonics. Not just because France is one of the countries with the biggest Toy Tonics fanbase, but also because Cassius and Yuksek have always been „heroes“ to the TT crew. It all makes sense. Nathalie Duchene’s first EP „Praia“ is out on march 11th including remixes by Yuksek, Boombass and Carl Chaste.

Not only is mike "father of the year", but he also has records. Deep crates, as they say. MIKE FEEL LOVE will keep the chin scratchers at bay for a while, seeing as the original cover has zero internet presence. It will also keep the dancers happy. A scrappy little edit keeping the sloppy instrumentation in tact, because it's the best part of the song. Drums fall out of time, or drop out altogether. The synth arps fall out of synch which makes you wonder if that's an arpeggiator, or some maniac playing live. The other side is a very old edit Mike dusted off and is guaranteed to make the chin scratchers take a bathroom break- seeing as it is a top 40 hit from the 70s. Which doesn't mean it's not a burner.

Ok this is an old story that started as a bootleg edit while back. I remember that as soon as I uploaded the edit on soundcloud I got so many reactions I decided to take it offline immediately and put it out on 12" (200 copies only, but then the bootleg got bootlegged, crazy...) But it never got a proper "clean" release, although we tried hard to clear it.
So, after replaying everything (thanks to Silver City, Sean Brosnan and Bob Benozzo), new vocals (courtesy of Jupiter), a killer new remix (by Spiller) and a great dj and label owner (Joey Negro)
It's finally dropping on Z Records UK and I made a new dub mix for the occasion. Check it out.
