Thanks to @englishnarwhal for giving some feedback on this mashup before I published it...although after what I'm about to say, maybe they won't want their name associated with this thing. :p

Look, I know that it's none of my business what people call themselves, AND I get why people might describe sex as "breeding," since breeding is formally defined as sexual reproduction between nonhuman animals. And sex and libido, being culturally perceived as primal and instinctual, are easy to think of as animalistic activities. So I get why people would say it - it makes sense, thematically, in a "I wanna fuck you like an animal" sort of way.

But breeding is, like, usually used to describe when people control which animals mate with others to develop offspring with specific, desirable qualities. Ignoring the fact that human breeding is also known as eugenics, I feel like calling yourself breedable is taking away your own agency around sex; it's like saying "do with me what you will, I'm an animal." And look, I get that those kinds of things turn some people on, but personally that just seems, uh, really screwed up. In calling someone "breedable," it feels like like saying "say goodbye to your self-respect and dignity, because your sex life, body, and offspring, are no longer yours to control." I know it's a bit of a hyperbolic interpretation, and I'm sure most people are only saying it for the meme, but it still makes me a little uncomfortable. Maybe I'm just too closed-minded, I dunno.

Anyways, that's why this mashup uses "Closer" as its backbone. More news at 8.

Honestly, not a fan of people unironically self-labelling as "Breedable"

Two things to get out of the way first: thanks to @assorted-interests for previewing this track before I released it to ensure it didn't sound terrible, and credit to Santiago Hunson on Youtube for doing the opposite version of this same mashup before me. (I hadn't realized someone had executed this idea until a couple of days before I finished it, so I'd say it was an example of convergent evolution in mashup-making.) Also, the idea for this mashup came from the same place that most of my best mashup ideas come from: me lying listlessly in my bed at night trying to fall asleep, with my mind racing (ha). I thought of the mashup idea and then the title in rapid succession, and I'm fairly sure I said "HOLY SHIT" out loud when thinking of the title in particular. Then I ran to my computer to write it down and, with that done, headed back to bed. Funny, that's actually the same way that my previous mashup was made, except I opted to write the idea down on a piece of junk mail lying on my desk. Not the shitpost, mind you, the actual mashup - the "not a fan of the word breedable" one. You know what I mean.

I'm not sure if anyone thinks the title is as funny as I thought it was, but I hope you enjoy the mashup anyways. These two songs feel like a match made in heaven honestly, I think it'd be hard for me to screw that up.
