Bad Intentions

On Thursday, January 30th, we launched NIGHT BASS at Sound Nightclub – a new event series curated by the king of bass house AC Slater and his Brooklyn-based record label Party Like Us.

Los Angeles was served up a deep dish of house, club, uk garage, bassline, and 2-step from AC Slater, Christian Martin, Astronomar, Petey Clicks, and Sleazemore. It was such memorable night, we wanted to capture the vibe of NIGHT BASS to share with everyone. And so, in the spirit of the old skool rave "tape packs" of the 90s, here's a special mix from Christian Martin of Dirtybird recorded live at the launch of NIGHT BASS at Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles.

NORAD!!! What a club, what a crew!! Right from the start, it was clear that this huge brick room with the military grade Turbo soundsystem was a force to be reckoned with.

I was disappointed when I heard they would be closing their doors after the building sold, but thrilled at the invite to hop on the decks for one more sprawling marathon set..

As if the final night wasn't already banging enough, my old friend and all around music don Jesse Rose showed up at 2 am after his set across town, ready to throw down track for track until the lights came on. It was a fitting end to a space built on community and a boundless appetite for great electronic music.

One of Stuttgarts promising, fresh new talent, the DJ, Producer and Mastering Engineer Markus Jogun aka HOURS is constantly trying to push the boundaries of electronic music, pursuing his own vision of Techno and experimental sounds. With his unique blend of DJing enriched by live elements he has appeared alongside mainstays of the international Techno scene like Chris Liebing, Marcel Fengler or Terence Fixmer. Boasting Releases on Affin, Driving Forces and 2651 Records, HOURS is already on to new projects: besides releasing an EP on Pierre Deutschmann’s XLR1507 later this year, touring with his new live act Descartes_ (in collab with Peter Kneer) he is also working on the first releases of his own, all new imprint Concepts Of Time. This weeks podcast is an excerpt of one of his extended all night long sets on Lehmann’s 2nd floor.
