Second release of the year already from the party music people of Abstrack. This time, it’s Brussels based artist Strapontin whose original production is on the menu, with re interpretation from several gifted companions. The multitude here is no excuse for genericity or easy recipes, rather a fertile playground for toying around with a wide range of vibes and moods.

Matches is a poetic, sensual spoken-word piece. The song feels like a flower about to blossom, though with plenty of hybrid DNA in it. In the end it leaves the way wide open for further emotions to get through. And they do.

Sasnal Park is the emotion of wander : looking for something forever, but for what? The drums make you believe that you found it but they turn out to be a mirage, and so does every tangible element of the track. A beautiful journey in the end even if you don’t know where you’ve been.

Family Diner … no ambiguity this time : a mystical roller as dark as it is trippy. Or maybe more trippy. Either way, not sure you can resist dancing to this one played out loud. Lose yourself to screaming halfway through, but only to fall back well rooted in those dancing feet afterwards.

On the flip, remixers put it where they’re expected to : A Strange Wedding takes the wandering “Sasnal Park” on the Edge of trancy club music, closer to the roots of Abstrack parties.

Feon turns the belter “Family Diner” into a road roller : sirens and massive subs engage into a memorable fist fight.

And home man Vidock choses the very dreamlike “Matches”, adding quite a touch of dancefloor but not removing one inch of dream.

A digital bonus of great value is delivered by the hands of anatolian weapon, remixing Sasnal Park. This time, no messing around : it's full on club mood, the acid line and the the powerful beats turning the wander and the dream into a strangely haunting dancefloor weapon.


Strapontin

Besides being a dancer, performer and visual artist, French-born, Brussels-based Patrick Belmont aka Strapontin is a DJ and producer who mixes up slow and rough techno with thrilling soundtracks and groove driven disco.

While the world was (still) burning in 2020 Strapontin released two banging records on Hard Fist and Invisible Inc. uplifted by stellar remixes from Sascha Funke, Damon Jee and Thomass Jackson. He also created his own home-made video game with the movie director and partner Yvan Megal with whom he realised most of his music video. Early 2021 marked his explosive return on Optimo with a collaborative EP with Philadelphia's psychedelic duo Zillas On Acid.

Patrick Belmont is also a soundtrack composer and performer in the contemporary dance collective Poetic Punkers, and works with choreographers Lorenzo De Angelis, Baptiste Conte and Ikue Nakagawa.
He also unveiled his first art exhibition in ZSenne Artlab (Brussels) in 2020.

For this new Premiere, we have a track by the Detroit based Electro & Techno producer Francois Dillinger from the compilation "DMC006 - V.A" on the Label : Dionysian Mysteries.
This huge compilation contains no less than 14 quality tracks !

The track we have chosen to premiere (and it was not easy) is called ‘Syntaxes’ and it will be available from July 10th, 2019 on Bandcamp : https://dionysian-mysteries.bandcamp.com/album/dmc006-v-a-2

Francois Dillinger : " ‘Syntaxes’ sat in my finished projects folder for nearly a year under a different name. It was much more of a 4x4 techno track, and for some reason it never felt like it was doing all the elements justice. I reopened the project and completely rearranged the drums, and turned it into the techno/electro hybrid it is now. I decided to change the name to ‘Syntaxes’ since I had completely changed the arrangement of pieces to this track to create a new statement. It had all the same parts but told a completely different story. This track is a victory for me in the fact that I was willing to completely dismantle something I thought was done in an effort to make it what it needed to be. Sometimes you have to sit on something for a while to see it for what it truly is.

Most of the drums were recorded on an Elektron Analog Rytm, and the acid bass is from the Roland TB-3. The other sounds are a combination of the Korg Monologue and Roland SE-02. "

DET:ROI - contraction of Detroit and Charleroi.

The Motor City has always been important to Roulette Rekordz. Not only for the major influence it had on us and many of our artists, but also because our first international guest was MANASYt then based in... Detroit. During our journey, a couple of releases have paid tribute to that specific sound, be it Natan Vance and his soundtracks for cyberpunk thrillers, Hantrax and his naive and nostalgic tales or Dark prophet and his beefy electro-techno.

We thought it was time to solidify this connection and make it obvious for once and for all. Not only for musical reasons, but also because our cities share one same fate. A story of deindustrialization, decline and decay. A story of social struggle and economical challenges. A story about humans and their actions, creating the energy of the city they live in.

Roulette Rekordz is offering you today a collaboration between two big bearded motherfuckers : FRANCOIS DILLINGER representing Detroit & Poladroïd representing Charleroi.

Two artists & two cities.
Two visions that are interchangeable.
A sonic drive into the suburbs of their respective hometowns.
The soundtrack of your commuting, by train or in an autonomous car.
