Excited to announce that my new album "Kahunastyle" is now out on Keats//Collective! This release took me about a year to make, so I'm really excited to finally share this with you. Special thanks goes to Rollergirl for mastering the whole project and to Andrew Walker for the artwork. ZamZam Sounds welcomes London-based producer Ojah to the fold, best known for his rich analog sound and expert live mixing on numerous 7” and 12” releases on his own excellent Alchemy Dubs label.  With a sound at once personal and classic, Ojah has been carving a beautiful niche for himself that we are proud to forward. 

“Cycles” opens with ominous synths building steadily with the introduction of clave, tambourine and a militant steppers kick.  A gorgeous bassline and piano figure drop in, accented with insistent skanks, syndrum, rimshots, more percussion, and a powerfully repetitive, hypnotic, sonar ping in the distance - like a lighthouse cutting through dark and dangerous fog. 

"Fear Not Dub" is a militant steppers tune cut from similar sonic cloth, replacing the syndrum with bright claps and rich toms, and adding a theremin-like synth melody and impressionistic melodica courtesy of Ojah’s frequent collaborator, The Specials’ own Nikolaj Torp Larsen, aka Nik Torp. Deep and driving mid-tempo sound system tunes for all those with a passion for hands-on-desk live mixing and dubbing in the tradition. 

Mastered by Sam at Precise.  Released mid-March, 2018. Limited to 600 7" vinyl copies for the world. Design & screen print by Polygon Press.  No repress, no digital.

The second release taken from Erefaan Pearce's upcoming album on Eyedyllic Music is a double single, featuring two more of the album's tracks. 'Lovely' is a collaboration with The Lazarusman on spoken-word duties, while 'Reasons' features the vocals of Mox, with David Marston on the remix - and he does not disappoint with his uniquely melodic reworking of Erefaans contemplative original.

The original cuts showcase more of the artistry forthcoming on his album. Tight rhythm and vocal work combined with a classic House aesthetic. Jackin and Soulful in equal measure.

Reasons is a dreamy walk through deep memory, a immersive experience on the dancefloor. Lush synth work, keys and strings are balanced carefully in the mix as the song progresses, on the back of a catchy vocal. Whilst Lovely is more straight up jackin House, a solid beat and atmosphere set the tone, slightly stripped back but only enough to show its intent, while The Lazarusman does what he's known best for doing, waxing poetic over a tight house groove.
This stands alone as a solid package, whilst also showcasing what is coming soon on Eyedyllic. Following the first single, Lovely/Reasons will be out on Eyedyllic in Late October, in advance of The Late Nite Cancerean -- Erefaan's full-length album, which will hit stores in November.
