Nearly a year after releasing their critically-acclaimed SOLOW EP, Canadian live electronic three-piece Keys N Krates have emerged from the studio with their newest creation “Are We Faded.” Premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show on 8/8, the first single off their upcoming “Every Nite” EP” showcases the trio’s hallmark harmony between hip-hop, electronic and instrumentation. The second single from Keys N Krates forthcoming Every Nite EP, "Understand Why" combines loopy, pitched up 90s house vocals, knocking rap drums, epic synths, big bass, and haunting voices to form a genre defying banger.  

The track undoubtedly elaborates on the Keys N Krates sound developed in tracks like “Treat Me Right" and “Dum Dee Dum," which use morphed vocal samples and 808s to create tension-filled rap beats that are as anthemic as they are strange. "Dum Dee Dum" has remained a mainstay in fellow 808 enthusiast's DJ sets like Baauer and RL Grime. "Understand Why" is no different, having already picked up big support from the likes of Hudson Mohawke, Just Blaze and Salva, to name a few.

What I've Done

With "Roll It Up" I took influence from UK Bassline House, G-House, and Funky Swervin Booty Ghetto Tech (I just made this genre up rn tbh) to create a fun, banging club track. With the second part of the track, "Damn", I wanted to create a secret track of sorts ;) - this one is for all my house heads. "Roll It Up" has been a staple in my sets all Summer and I'm stoked to finally share it with my Fresch Fam!
