A live act featuring the sounds of their own productions radically reduced to a small setup of analogue and digital machines, with the addition of vocals from member Adam Biggs. MA/AM’s live sets generally weave through varying textures of electronic music made especially for the festival dance floor and home listening a like.

MKav is the DJ acronym of Mick Kavanagh, a DJ/Promoter from Dublin that learned the trade in Ireland but honed the skills in Vancouver, Canada. The Foreign Influence founder has roots in the warehouse scene in Dublin and most notably for an array of sounds in Vancouver. His style has tend to fluctuate but smoothly, complimenting the vibe at the present moment as the perfect decoration of sound. 

Surrounded by many great local and international artists from all backgrounds the wide range of sounds blend so well as they were one. After leaving an imprint on the Vancouver scene through FI*, being a resident at Youplusone and opening and closing for artists such as Denis Horvat, Quivver, Pig&Dan to name a few, he definitly knows how to keep a ship sailing and take it to its destination.

Ingrid Hakanson began a career in electronic music in 2000 when a friend handed her a microphone during his set at a party in Vancouver, BC. That began her journey as one of the area’s first live improvisational vocalists in the house music scene.

Growing up, she played piano, saxophone, and sang classical both in a choir and solo. When she moved to Vancouver in 1996, she spent 4 years fronting a rock band before becoming part of a local musicians’ collective called Bedroomstudio. This group’s blend of jazz, rock, and synthesized beats saw the release of the album ‘Submissions’ in 2005.

Since then, Ingrid has been writing and performing with electronic music producers from around the world. Releases such as ‘Out of Touch’ with Dave Armstrong (2003) and ‘Freak for You’ and ‘Luscious’ with Swirl People (2007) initially brought her talent to the forefront of the scene. For the last 5 years, she has evolved her performance to singing live to her own DJ sets, in her home town and internationally. She has collaborated or performed with Carlos Mendoza (LCG), Lumoon&Rob!n (Claire Du Lune), Asad Rizvi/Asadinho (Reverberations), Luke McKeehan (Nordic Trax), Jon Lee (Tilted/Viva), and Andy Clockwork (East Van Digital) and many more. In 2013, she also released a moody-electro pop side project EP (Echoes) with Carlos Mendoza as Canaima. She has been a staple performer at Festivus BC since its inception. She has also played at high profile festivals in BC including Burn in the Forest and Basscoast.

Ingrid's own DJ performances along with her live vocals focus on a deep and bass-centric house feel, but with a sense of playfulness and connection with her audience, and a voice with both power and a jazzy/raspy quality. With an already impressive list of releases on labels such as DFTD, King Street Sounds, and Claire Du Lune records, she will continue to elevate her status as one of house music’s most sought-after vocalists, allowing audiences worldwide to experience her strong live performances and stage presence.
