The London based producer Joe Bush aka Manse made a first cassette album on Opal Tapes but definitely emerged like so many talents through the impressive Lobster Theremin roster with two noteworthy eps. Now the young producer is ready to step in on the higher game launching is own imprint aptly named "MNS" Records. Cultivated Electronics is celebrating 10 years as a label in 2017 with its 20th release ‘Ten Year Electronics’.  This is the final chapter in a 5 part collaborative series that has seen CE label head Sync 24 team up with other artists, which have previously included Morphology, The Exaltics, Silicon Scally and DMX Krew.

On this one, legendary UK maverick and general Electro don, Radioactive Man (Keith Tenniswood / Two Lone Swordsmen) joins Sync 24 on ‘Eliptical’, a squelching and shimmering track that’s laced with electronic funk.

Sync 24, or Phil to his mum, has been making sure proper electro stays relevant in the modern era for over a decade, with a string of personal releases strectching back to 2003. His own imprint, Cultivated Electronics, acts as a home for his own and other like minded projects, and its output proves that electro's stripped back and anarchic grooviness is as essential now as it has ever been. After getting into him via a stormer of an EP on Sheffield's CPU records, we had to check out his live set at the Electrix records showcase at Bloc and he certainly didn't disappoint- a cavalcade of clattering rhythms and chilly synth business was one of the highlights of the whole weekend.

Keith Tenniswood, better known as Radioactive Man and to most perhaps, as one half of Two Lone Swordsmen with Andrew Weatherall, has a sound with a big heart, underpinned by electro-driven funk. Over the years, he’s put many accolades to his name – credited with co-producing with David Holmes the award winning ‘Lets Get Killed’, engineering the live sound for Sabres of Paradise on the Primal Scream UK tour in 96, being among the first to contribute to Fabric’s mooted mix series, and for Tenniswood it’s still his Swordsmen era album ‘Tiny Reminders’ that is to this day one of his proudest moments.

Core family member and Crisis founder Imre Kiss returns to the Lobster fray with a deep, riveting and emotive EP for sub-label Mörk.

Infused with the emotional energy of his previous outings whilst plunging into a wormhole of London-centric sonic references, Strangers is Imre at his most potent and signals a striking return for the Budapest producer.

'Love' opens with that signature husky looped bark/machine rachet and quickly brings up an undulating scuffed kick and squelched percussion. A steady droning and progg-y builder that gives way to crystalline new age pads and morphs into a world-engulfing acid epic; straddling the London-stepped rhythm to it's emphatic techno conclusion.

'She Moves Through Fire' uses these elements in a more stylistic fashion. A slow brooding electro number that combines ghostly synthesised horn blasts with delay-drenched crystalline top lines, stuttering hi-hats, and the imminent arrival of emotional epiphany. A slow burning, total eclipse of the sun.

The B-side begins with a beat-less rhythmic techno climb, slammed by wave after wave of swelling sub as layers of sedimentary percussion build up along the shores. Sheared hi-end hits it's peak with a yelping-refrain, setting loose a heaving and thumping kick that rides us out til the end. A stellar set-opening weapon this.

Closing out the set is 'No Turning Back'. That stepped rhythmic looping is back in full power effect with plenty of chuntering, filtered perc-synth overlapping. A staggered and cosmic take on the early minimal sound with that UK edge - think Robert Hood via Actress - that steadily rolls out into the distance.

Ce film désormais culte est truffé de clins d'oeil, références et blagues en tout genre. On peut par exemple citer certains messages apparaissant dans le film sous la forme de véritables hiéroglyphes et que l'on peut traduire ainsi : "Si vous pouvez lire ça, vous êtes un égyptologue".
