Premiere : music lovers anonymous @emellay - I Can Feel You Through the Screen [katharsis] @katharsislabel

“Emellay” is the second EP released by Upstate NY-based artist music lovers anonymous (MLA). The project can be seen as a sort of sequel to his first EP, “Wherever Chance Leads Me, I Will Go As A Friend,” released on formforum earlier this year. There are familiar sounds: humble field recordings, string-like textures, with an increased emphasis on controlled discord. Samples from important periods in his life are re-contextualized into something individualized: an interpretive dance between the weight of life and the bliss of insignificance. A pseudo-self titled project, “Emellay” functions as an unfinished self-portrait. Or maybe rather, a blind contour. These tracks were created without an end—with closed eyes—like a story being told as it is written...a story taking place in a bedroom, at a laptop, with a MIDI controller. It is an ode to an undeveloped identity, leaving melodic artifacts in its wake.

This is music for headphones.

Ce film désormais culte est truffé de clins d'oeil, références et blagues en tout genre. On peut par exemple citer certains messages apparaissant dans le film sous la forme de véritables hiéroglyphes et que l'on peut traduire ainsi : "Si vous pouvez lire ça, vous êtes un égyptologue".

The Bureau of Surrealist Research, also known as the Centrale Surréaliste or "Bureau of Surrealist Enquiries" was a Paris-based office in which a loosely affiliated group of Surrealist writers and artists gathered to meet, hold discussions, and conduct interviews in order to "gather all the information possible related to forms that might express the unconscious activity of the mind.
