Resurfacing via Portsmouth drum and bass label Murky Digital for the second time this year following his spring debut Dark Sets In, Ipswich beatmaker Conrad Subs is back with the colossal new EP For So Long.

Having earned praise from drum and bass royalty including Mollie Collins, Low Down Deep boss Logan D and Kings of the Rollers’ Bladerunner for his last contributions to the label, the Suffolk-based producer is a bona fide star in the making. Known among followers for his unrivalled musical output – in both volume and quality – he dropped his latest project mere weeks ago, guesting on Nuusic with the well-received High Frequency team-up Ignite.

Taking things in a more jagged, abrasive direction, For So Long comes as a timely reminder of this seasoned talent’s indisputable range. Doubling up as the project’s introductory track, titular offering “For So Long” is rebellious by nature, its plinking melodies and luscious lyrics soon succumbing to a potent combination of screeching formant synths and crunchy basslines. “Swish” opens in a similarly spirited fashion, with throbbing, delay-soaked leads and a timeless topline segueing into a rugged, rave-ready arrangement of barbed low-end and rattling percussion.

The second half of the project finds a number of different styles on display, with gifted mic man Fraser laying down a plethora of self-assured halftime raps on “Movement” atop a bed of jump-up-esque oscillations and pattering, mechanical whirs. “Cluster”, the ensuing cut, is built around a bulldozing bassline and violent snares, while “In Your Arms” – the EP’s parting gift – is equally boisterous, punctuated by searing synths and tight 808s.

The For So Long EP hits Juno Download and Spotify on 3 September, reaching a full range of digital service providers the following week on 10 September 2021.

We are back with another mix in Series 3, This time around we have Samantix behind the controls, Sam recently started getting into mixing but has always been a raver. She knows what she wants to play and has a huge passion for mixing.

Sam recently performed her first set out at Swindon Music Festival and it was quality, she was blending tracks past to present and all the best bits in between. Sam has recently joined a group called beats, bars and banter who support one another with anything music related, its pretty awesome to see someone being so positive about what her friends are doing and supporting them all while following her passion with mixing and drum and bass.
