Our first artist of the February expedition is none other than DJ Merlín, he has recently majored in composition and sound design at the Arts Academy in Utrecht. The theme of his thesis: Getting artistic input from traditional Eastern African music to implement in modern electronic music. To accomplish his focus was mainly developing composition techniques based on the style elements from this culture, with the aim to create material he otherwise ​​would not be able to develop and thus create a hybrid and unique piece of music. The hybrid characteristics of his music are a stable factor throughout his music collection and performance. 

After 10 years of sculpting his style, DJ Merlín is ready to spread his wings.
Next to making music and DJing, he is one of the owners and the programmer of the local unit Kraft und Licht. Whether it's deep in the Amsterdam forest or in the hull of an old freight ship, they bring together the perfect blend of audience and artists that include Byron Yeates, D. Tiffany, Jane Fitz, Carl H, Sansibar, re:ni and many others.

The thought process behind this mix a creating a journey through a space jungle with an animalistic vibe and energy and showcase some of his new creations
